Car Rental Tortuga

After you've been to all of the interesting places in Tortuga, there's more to explore in the surrounding area. Collect the keys to a rental car, throw your bags in the trunk and get out there. We've come up with some drives we think you'll enjoy:

• Make your way to Sao Paulo for an excellent sightseeing experience. Roughly 40 miles from Tortuga, it's home to tons of cool attractions, including Paulista Museum.
• Your next stop? Make it Campos do Jordão, which is around 95 miles away. Amantikir Park is one local hot spot you won't want to miss.
• Get out into nature and breathe in some fresh air at Christ the Redeemer. It's about 200 miles from Tortuga.

If you don't have a driver's license issued in Brazil, then you'll likely need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence in order to rent a car. You should also be aware that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll have to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental vehicle matches the name on your driver's license and passport. Some additional requirements to rent a car internationally are:

• Age restrictions: You need to be 25 or older in most places to rent a car. If you're younger, it may still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the fine print before you drive off the lot. You typically can't cross country borders, drive onto ferries or off road with your rental car.
