There's heaps to do in Valle Bonito, but head farther afield and you'll find even more magic. Organize a set of wheels and you can cruise around the surrounding area at your own pace. Add these awesome drives to your travel schedule:

• You'll find National Museum of Costa Rica and loads of other interesting attractions in San José. From Valle Bonito, it's roughly 60 miles away.
• Approximately 45 miles away, Liberia is also popular with travelers. Allow time to take in Liberia Parque Central while you're here. It's one of the reasons people love this colorful city.
• Corcovado National Park is located 150 miles from Valle Bonito and is one of the region's most breathtaking nature spots. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the fresh air.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Costa Rica, then you may need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be allowed to rent a car.
