$17 Car Rental Zona 5

After you've ticked off the great sights in Zona 5, there's heaps more to discover in the surrounding region. Collect the keys to a rental car, pack your bags in the trunk and hit the road. We've come up with some drives you're sure to love:

• Make tracks to Quetzaltenango for an excellent sightseeing experience. Around 70 miles from Zona 5, it has lots of inspiring sights, including Quetzaltenango Central Park.
• Why not see all that's on offer in Santiago Atitlan too? Top tourist attractions to see here include Atitlan Volcano. Santiago Atitlan is roughly 50 miles from Zona 5.
• Visit Rio Dulce to reconnect with nature. Pack a picnic to enjoy or just sit and unwind. From Zona 5, it's 130 miles away.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Guatemala, then you may need to apply for an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your place of residence to be able to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll need to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your driver's license and passport. A few other things to note to rent a car internationally are:

• Age restrictions: You'll need to be 25 or over in most places to rent a car. If you're younger, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
• Driving limitations: Be sure to read the fine print before you drive away. Typically, you can't cross country borders, drive onto ferries or off road with a rental car.
