Sugar Island cabin on the water, doorway to great fishing and duck hunting!

Come enjoy the sunrise every morning on the northeast side of beautiful Sugar Island. See the view of the Canadian hills and fish protected waters of the St. Mary's River and Lake George. Our 2 bedroom house, we call "The Nest", has a large yard with bonfire pit for smores, gas grill, boat docking available next door and even room for a camper if needed!

"The Nest" is located 11 miles from Sugar Island ferry and a 5 minute boat ride from historic Sault Ste. Marie, Mi.

Sault Ste. Marie is celebrating its 350th anniversary in 2018 (1668-2018). Come visit us during this historic year-long celebration to commemorate our unique heritage, and to make your own memories of, “the Place Where Michigan was Born.”. Visit to see whats happening!!

A day trip to the Historic Sault Ste. Marie as a 'fudgie' is always possible! In the Sault, you can visit the shops on Portage Avenue (Or 'Fudgie Lane', which is where tourists get the 'fudgie' name from, because they are known for purchasing a lot of fudge!'), the famous Soo Locks, the Tower of History, Valley Camp, the casino, a quick trip into Ontario Canada across the International Bridge or one of the few golf courses in town. Check out more to do at join us to celebrate

"The Nest" includes 1 bedroom with Queen, 1 bedroom has double bed with twin bunk plus a futon. Napping cots available also for little ones if needed and also adult size cots. Swimming, boating, fishing and duck hunting are all part of the fun.

The kitchen features an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, deep fryer and toaster. Pots, pans, dishes and utensils provide everything but the food you need to prepare your meals. Washer and dryer available.

DVD/VHS player and TV to play them on, cell service is limited at times and Canadian chargers may be charged so check with your provider for optional plans. New this year available internet!

Blue Heron Fishing Charters is another one of our perks! My husband, Harold is a USCG licensed Charter Boat Captain. Book a day of great fishing with Harold and enjoy the adventure. All fishing gear, bait, life jackets big and small plus fish cleaning included. Michigan fishing license is required and can be obtained online at you can get them for the season or for the day. Check out our site

Do you want to bring your boat? No problem, in fact, there is a DNR boat launch about a mile from this location, so putting it in the water on your arrival at "The Nest" will be easy and we have plenty of room for you park your trailer! Gas station and small store is a 20 mile round trip, if needed we can assist with fueling and picking up supplies.

What to fish for? You choose!! Walleye, perch, Northern Pike, Sturgeon (catch and release) bass, salmon both Atlantic and King. Fish cleaning area available with running water.

Lot's of room under the stars to pitch a tent or set up a camper if you have more coming!

So come watch the sunrise, sit under the stars at the bonfire and just breathe! Visit our Facebook page TheNest

Peaceful getaway
My husband and I really enjoyed The Nest. It was so peaceful. The house is very well stocked with all the essentials, the stove is so cozy. The neighborhood dogs passing through were so friendly with our shepherd, she looked forward to play time every morning! The river was tranquil, and we experienced both fall and winter in our six day stay. We'll be back!

The Nest on Sugar Island
The Nest is 10 out of 10 best place to stay for for a quiet get away with the most beautiful scenery! Jan kept everything clean and tidy for our stay! Even kept a gas fireplace lit for us, creating the most cozy feel to the Nest! If you're looking for a secluded place in the woods and waterfront property to vacation at, The Nest is the place to be! The people on Sugar Island and in Sault Saint Marie are the most kind people! Food in the area is amazing!!! And White fish point is only a little over an hour drive if you want to look for YooperLight stones!! Lake Superior is absolutely gorgeous!!

The Nest is a beautiful slice of the wilderness.
My wife and I were looking for a unique experience while visiting the UP, which included finding a secluded cabin rental. The cabin did not disappoint and was more than adequately furnished with everything a comfortable stay could want. I’d certainly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to experience an exceptionally beautiful setting and a remoteness that’s not commonly found.
