"This place would get our very highest rating—if it weren’t so remote and far away from restaurants, hiking trails, etc. Too much driving! The house is charming and quirky. Grit, our hostess, was just lovely, helpful and hospitable. The place is sparkling clean, and well supplied with everything we needed. Many thoughtful touches. There are several changes of level both inside and outside, so it helps to be nimble. Two very nice outdoor areas for spending time, one with a great view...

"The house is tremendous. A vast and clear living room, an incredibly well equiped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Outside, a small but sufficient pool, and incredible garden fittted with beautiful tropical plants. Pascal and Teresa were perfect for the check in & out. Regarding the other coments I've read, there was no pressure issue in the showers, so this problem seems fixed. "Nuestra experiencia fue maravillosa. La casa se encuentra en una zona muy tranquila. Goza de unas vistas increíbles de todo el valle de Aridane. Se encontraba en perfectas condiciones tanto de limpieza como de estado general. Nuestro anfitrión tuvo el maravilloso detalle de dejarnos plátanos, naranjas y aguacates a nuestra llegada. "Our six-day stay at Meliá La Palma could not have been better. From the welcoming reception from the staff to every inch of the facilities, we enjoyed it very much. We opted to upgrade to "Level" status, and the perks that it provided were substantial and appreciated. Our room was on the top floor with a spectacular oceanfront view! Well worth the upgrade in our opinion."

"Hotel staff speak English, the restaurant provides fine dining. The hotel itself is like staying in an art gallery. Even our room had original paintings and chandeliers. The same family has owned this former banana plantation since the 1600’s and built up their art collection since then. The property even has a family chapel that staff will open for you which is filled with artwork. Courtyard and pool area is a lush tropical garden and is very idyllic. Being in the freshwater pool while looking at the garden flowers is very relaxing. The Staff were attentive and anticipated my needs. For example, the front desk manager wrapped my leftover pizza from a local restaurant and delivered it to my room. At breakfast my son and I were provided with cafe con leche without being asked. The hotel is in Tazacorte which is an authentic Spanish town - not touristy at all. Restaurant servers may speak some English but do not expect fluency. There are many dining options and a hypermarket within easy walking distance. I have stayed in many fine hotels but this one would be one of my top recommendations. "

"The gardens in which the hotel is built are beyond comparison, a real oasis. The pool is very attractive, with plenty of sunbed area around it. The beach, the local restaurants, the little shops and the bus stop are all very close, and there is a good walking route to the town of Santa Cruz avoiding the main road (50 mins)."
