Being in old Valença was like being on an island with fantastic views from anywhere in the hotel. The breakfast food was good, the staff friendly and efficient, and the hotel ambiance was understated, quiet, and comfortable. We brought our car—easy parking—but arrival by train or coach would have been fine. Once inside the Fortaleza de Valença, there was no need to leave.

Estancia estupenda

Estancia estupenda. Todas las medidas contra el covid a rajatabla, lo que da mucha sensación de seguridad. Nos hicieron un upgrade a una habitación superior con balcón y vistas al río. El desayuno buffet ha sido a la carta y fué fenomenal aunque como si hubiera dos camareros en lugar de uno solo, podía haber sido un poco más rápido. El personal muy amable.

Valença - Pousada

Spectacular hotel. Very very clean and calm. The surrounding areas are breath taking and the locals very friendly. The breakfast is very good and lots of choice and abundance. If what you want is relaxation, good food and nature, Pousada Valença has you covered!

Good stop at the border

Pousada Valenca is an amazing place with outstanding views. The hotel is first class. I upgraded to a room with a balcony and it was worth it.

The location, inside the walled fortress was fabulous. The view of the Minho River and Tui, Spain were wonderful. Huge common areas with lots of seating. Nice, sizeable rooms. Good dining options outside the walls for options other than traditional Portuguese. Very nice breakfast and coffee options. Easy 20 minute walk to Tui, Spain - a very nice town.

Excelente ubicación. La decoración un poco antigua, mejoraría mucho poniéndola más moderna. Personal, muy amable y serviciales. Buen desayuno con una magníficas vistas desde el comedor. Estuvimos una sola noche, y la sensación q nos quedó es que acertamos con la eleccion.

Pousada razoável e muito vazia

A Pousada está razoávelmente preservada, o pequeno almoço é continental mas os produtos de muito baixa qualidade. Frutas e queijos sem sabor, muito fraco. O serviço de recepção muito fraco. O ar condicionado desligado,o que provocou um calor enorme. Sou cliente de há muitos anos e desta vez decepcionámo-nos um pouco em relação a estadias anteriores

Siempre oía hablar de Valença por sus tiendas y toallas, pero además de eso, considero que lo mejor es el entorno. Su fortaleza, con las tres murallas, fosos, y vistas al Miño y a Tui. Sólo le faltaría tener piscina.

The view alone is worth the price!

I stayed at both the Pousada in Valença and the Parador in Tui—the Pousada wins hands-down, simply because of the view. Even if your room doesn’t have a view, the dining room does. I met a couple who were staying in Tui but crossed the river for dinner at the Pousada in Valença—and were very glad they had done so.
