Chicago White Sox Ticket Information

Few teams have added more drama to Major League Baseball than the Chicago White Sox. A fixture of the American League since its very first year, the ChiSox have provided some of the most epic moments, greatest controversies, and biggest comebacks to take place on the diamond. Pick up your White Sox tickets for the chance to see the next chapter in the team’s phenomenal legacy.

A Rowdy History

The franchise dates back to the old Western League, where they played as the Sioux City Cornhuskers until Charles Comiskey bought the team. He moved them to St. Paul in 1894 and then to Chicago in 1900, just in time to join the majors when the American League was formed. Adopting the former name of their new crosstown rivals, the White Stockings won the league’s first-ever pennant in 1901.

Despite sharing a city with the Chicago Cubs, the Sox gave their crosstown rivals a run for their money—in highs and lows alike. In 1906, the “Hitless Wonders” refused to let the league’s worst batting average stop them from beating the Cubs in the first single-city World Series. The team won the title again in 1917 and returned in 1919, when a conspiracy to throw the series gave the world the “Black Sox” and created baseball’s most infamous scandal.

The Sox wouldn’t win the pennant again until 40 years later, when they interrupted the New York Yankees’ seemingly endless championship streak. A years-long slump in the 1970s and 80s saw the Sox fighting off repeated efforts to move the team to Milwaukee, Seattle, or Tampa Bay, alternating between infamous stunts like Disco Demolition Night and periods of actual good baseball to keep the team alive. The struggle finally paid off in the new millennium as the Sox soared back to win the World Series in 2005.

The Good Guys

Although they haven’t actually worn white socks since the 1970s, the White Sox show off an undeniable legacy. The team fielded future Hall of Famers from Red Faber and Nellie Fox to Luis Aparicio and Frank Thomas, and they’ve been electrifying fans on Chicago’s South Side for generations. Whether they’re taking on the Cubs in the latest edition of baseball’s oldest crosstown rivalry or facing off against the Detroit Tigers or Minnesota Twins for dominance of their division, tickets to see the White Sox in Guaranteed Rate Field let you in on one of the best things to do in the Windy City.
