Step inside the museum and chat with staff to learn about Beatrix Havergal, who set up the horticultural school in the early 1930s. Let your kids have fun in the play area and look for the deer, rabbits and frogs, among other wildlife here. The grounds are made up of various sections, from the Walled Garden and the Formal Garden to the Alpine Garden and the Allotment Garden.

Enter the 18th-century barn for the Art in Action Gallery and admire the ceramics, glass and textiles on display. There are also contemporary paintings and arts and crafts.
