Ideally located for us as we were working at the MCEC, plus points are location, roomy apartment, full kitchen and washing machine with a seperate dryer. Unfavourable points are it is on the first floor, right opposite a busy railway line and tram stop, so a bit noisy, but it is in the city, so maybe you expect that. The rooms are big and light with great pillows and bedding, presentation is great, but neither room is incredibly private, one has bi fold doors with clear glass in them and ill fitting blinds to aid privacy whereas the other room has a big hole into the living area, again with an ill fitting blind, but sound from the sitting/dining area is in this room also as this hole in the wall is straight into the bedroom…. Strange setup. The biggest challenge for us though, was the sound of the plant room, probably for the lifts, which runs 24/7 and at night it is loud! I am pretty sure this apartment sits over the plant room as you can hear the pumps/motors running and stopping and to be fair, it kept us awake! In summary, great place to stay as a bunch of girls or couple of guys (mates) short term, but if it was 2 couples it would be challenging and you need some good ear plugs!

Great location with all the amenities you would need. Excellent night time view. Beds comfy and we had a bathroom for each room. My only issue was trying to get a receipt. Finally got one and it doesn’t contain gst info. Thanks for the bottle of wine.

We were very satisfied with our stay at the Melbourne Clarion gateway. Although the hotel was a little older it was still a very nice stay. Our room was clean and provided all necessities for a comfortable room. Our view of the downtown skyline was also a memorable part of our stay! We were within walking distance of dozens of restaurants museums and shopping centers. And the meals and coffee at each restaurant never disappoint! We also appreciated the excellent professional service received throughout our stay from the staff. They were helpful with suggestions on eateries and often checked to ensure our stay at the hotel as well as in Melbourne was enjoyable! Shout out to front desk staff: August, Elvie, Phewphew “trainee” (lol) and also to the housekeeping staff Tim. Definitely appreciate their great customer service. The only negative was the rumble heard from the nearby trains passing by. But was still worth the views! Highly recommend!

Updating the rooms with a fresh style. Also, making sure the heater works or providing a portable heater.
