If Season 38 of The Amazing Race is inspiring your inner explorer, look no further than this guide to your personal Pit Stop in beautiful Fiji.
Fiji is at the top of many travelers’ lists, and for good reason. Though it’s known for its breathtaking scenery of turquoise waters and coral reefs, the island’s “Bula hospitality” makes it a destination unlike any other. Meaning life, health, or simply hello, “Bula” is more than a word; it’s a way of life. From the welcoming kava ceremony that symbolizes peace and friendship, its traditional communal meals, and the locals who welcome visitors to tour their villages with open arms and guide countless outdoor excursions, Fiji’s warmth, energy, and goodwill elevate the island’s beauty to a whole new level.
Getting to the heart of the South Pacific is easier than you think. With Fiji Airlines providing non-stop service out of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Dallas, your Fijian “choose your own adventure” is just a hop away. From relaxing at an island beach club to ziplining amongst the trees, check out these bookable activities for your very own Pit Stop excursion.

Malamala Island

Make sure the world’s first beach club on an island, Malamala Beach Club makes your Fiji itinerary. A day-pass here does it all - good vibes, great tunes, and unbeatable experiences.
If you’re looking to be active here, take to the ocean for snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding - you never know what kind of marine life you’ll spot in those crystal-clear waters. For a laidback day, check out the luxurious infinity pool at The Venue, an adult-only haven complete with a bar serving hand-crafted cocktails.
After you’ve spent the day soaking up the sun and working up an appetite, make sure to check out the island’s restaurant for an à-la-carte menu of light bites bursting with Pacific-inspired flavors.
Mamanuca Islands

A part of the Mamanuca Islands is South Sea Island, one of Fiji’s smallest. Despite its tiny size - one could walk the entire thing in under 30 minutes - a world of fun is just on the other side of a short catamaran ride from Port Denarau.
Surrounded by calm waters, here you can dive into snorkeling excursions, hop into semi-submersibles to check out local sea life, and rent paddleboards and kayaks to get out on the water. For a strictly relaxing experience, enjoy time at the saltwater pool and lounge in beach chairs on the island’s powdery white sand.
In between activities, you can catch traditional Fijian “Meke” music and dance performances, enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch buffet, and shop one-of-a-kind handmade local souvenirs.
Sigatoka Valley

Take your Fijian getaway to new heights - literally. If you’re looking for spectacular sky-high views of Fiji, a helicopter and river tour with Heli-Tours Fiji might fit the bill.
The adventure begins with a 15-minute heli-transfer taking you over Sigatoka Valley, or the “Salad Bowl of Fiji”, aptly named for the lush array of fruits and vegetables grown throughout the pass. Once landed, you’ll hop aboard a jet boat and begin your cruise up the Sigatoka River while your driver fills you in on the local history, culture, and legends. You’ll arrive at a village where locals will welcome you with lunch and drinks, cultural demonstrations, and a traditional Kava ceremony. Ending the day on a high note, you’ll enjoy a scenic drive back to your hotel.
Sabeto Valley

If your ideal Pit Stop includes family-friendly fun, a day at this adventure park has something for everyone.
Nestled in a lush jungle at the base of Sleeping Giant Mountain in Sabeto Valley, this 35-acre adventure park features seven different zip lines that will have you flying up to 40 miles per hour. After you’ve checked zip-lining in the Fijian rainforest off your bucket list (don’t forget to get your picture taken while you’re up there), follow your guide on a scenic hike that ends at an exuberant waterfall.
For little ones who are inclined to climb on everything in their path, visit the new Jurassic park where they’ll meet some dino friends. After all of those appetite-building activities, grab a sandwich or a pizza to refuel and do it all again.
