It was great having a nice communal seating area/bar in the main part of the hostel. We were able to sit there for as long as we wanted when we were too tired to do any more walking in the heat. The ryokan was a very special experience. A beautiful place to stay in historic Kurashiki. It was a treat to be in such a uniquely Japanese space with the tatami floor, the futon and the special bath. Lovely staff too.
