Okay hotel close to ACUPosted Feb 16, 2015
Location: Great location - close to ACU and pretty much anything you would like to visit in Abilene.
The towels are horrible and someone came knocking on the door at 9 am to collect the dirty linens? What is that about? At least tell me when I check in that someone will be bothering me early the next morning about turning in towels.

BAD LOCALEPosted Oct 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
Unsavory looking types hanging around the doorway smoking. The bar next door is what I'd call a dive. Very seedy looking. Wouldn't stay there again. Stayed for one night and went elsewhere for the second. Didn't feel safe there.

Good StayPosted Sep 30, 2014 on Hotels.com
The ladies at the front desk at check in and check out were very nice and friendly. The facility is older but clean and the rooms are a lot roomier than others I've seen. It was quiet even though a lot of contract workers were hanging about outside, being social. The pool was drained even though we have lots of warm days left. I would stay again.

Cons: the whole place needs a remodel... employees need a course on cleaning
stained sheets pillow carpet smelled of wet dog and basement that's been flooded for years. the toilet sink and shower were filthy disgusting. mold and mildew all over the caulking and seals... the sink had old toothpaste and mold growing on it. the bed had no blanket.. went to walmart to buy a sheet to sleep on. we didn't use the facilities. we went to walmart to clean up... for $80 you should be ashamed to even be in business

Why not WhittenPosted Sep 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
Quiet. Could park right by the door. Breakfast WEAK. Go to Mc Breakfast with the money you saved.

When we checked in the lady complained about us getting a cheaper rate through hotels.com. She put us in a room with a broken lock on the door and no plug on the lamp between the beds. It just had bare wires exposed on the end. The last people in the room had pushed the wires into the outlet! When we complained she moved us next door to a better room. Then 2 days later when my husband called to ask for some toilet paper she said that I had agreed to something online that stated no toiletries! This was not true. My confirmation email clearly stated that one of the room amenities was was toiletries. The next day they finally left us a roll of toilet paper (after we had bought some). Also, they never left us more than 2 towels and washrags even though there was 3 of us staying in the room. One day after picking up our dirty towels they didn't leave us any hand towels. On the up side they had a very nice, clean, large swimming pool. Needless to say we won't be staying at Whitten Inn ever again.

Not Sure About This InnPosted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: The only favorable thing I can say about this hotel (motel) was that it was close to restaurants that had very good food.
Cons: The rooms could be cleaned better and the noise level could of been kept under better control.
Location: The location was close to the major highways that was close to the Zoo and the University.
Unfortunately, the room I received was in poor condition. The room was not very clean. The glasses were sticky and dirty. The bathroom was not clean and and the floors needed vacuuming. I slept on top of the comforter on the bed because of the condition of the rest of the room. The guests next door were up and outside drinking and barbequeing till close to midnight.

never againPosted Aug 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
Wasn't happy with a few things such as the shower drain, which didnt drain well so you had to stand in your own filth. Shower head was broken. Bed was hard. No extra pillows or blankets. And one of the front desk ladies was rude.

There are two Whitten Inns in Abilene, with the same logo, but they are no longer associated. The web site confused the locations. I picked the location on the Interstate on the map, but was registered at the other one a few miles away on the "business route". There was no problem with the location where we stayed, just the confusion. The room was quite large, with a king-size bed and a sofa; everything worked and the room was very clean. I believe this location is in the process of changing the name/logo. Another local point of confusion: the address and the street signs say "U S 80", but that highway designation was actually decommissioned a few years ago in favor of Interstate 20.

Motel is old. Carpet was dirty, walls smugged, sink and shower faucets were rusty, staff was nice, but will not be staying here again.
