First Time Visit

Very laid back and peaceful. I mean "laid back" on a scale of 1-10 it vibrates on a 2. We LOVED that. The staff was so friendly. The room view over the pool was awesome. Enjoyed the balcony view, the pool was awesome an always clean. No kids in the hot tub which was a BIG plus. The room service was great and the food was really good. We did try to use the Spa for a massage and had called the night before. Waited for a call until 9:00 but no call back until around 9:30 or 10:00. That was the only glitch.

Pros: The atmosphere is relaxing and beautiful, the bedding lush and posh, the rooms spacious and the amenities
Cons: Response to customer requests. Also, the holds that are placed are extreme.
Location: There is much to do at Stone Mountain Park, where the hotel is located, esp. for the outdoors lover. We stayed inside.
We purchased a romance package for our anniversary. We live in Decatur, and this was such a nice find so close to home. We were allowed to check in early, and the meals and massages included w/ the package were great. The gift shop had reasonable prices and all of the staff we encountered were kind and helpful. The bedding was divine! The room was so incredibly spacious and the scenery is gorgeous. To be fair, there were hiccups. I'm still waiting on my receipt. I was charged for the breakfast that was to be included w/ the package. They promptly removed it from the bill, but also removed the tip I left for the server. I wanted to make sure I paid the tip. It was to be corrected and a receipt emailed to me, but I have not gotten yet, though I called for it. Also, the toilet backed up once and it took an hour to get it fixed. We were told the engineer radios had malfunctioned. The staff was apologetic. We will return.

Prime real estate and potential for a Four Diamond Resort. Unfortunately, there was a break down between hotel.com and the resort. Was not on file. Wonderful golf course, pool, and trails. Did not get the room reserved until final night. Was reimbursed for one night for the inconvenience and received free breakfast before departing. The room was quiet and comfortable but hallways not cleaned daily. Outside first room, grounds had beer bottles, cans, and trash. Several reunions booked for the weekend but were not staffed to give the exceptional stay the GM states in his lobby picture. Dirty diaper under my friend's chaise lounge by the pool and had to throw it away because no attendant/s cleaning pool deck or picking up used towels. Garbage over flowing in Starbuck's and barrista working alone, doing a great job but had no time for attending to garbage. My issues are with maintaining the property/ public areas. The food was wonderful, sea food buffet top notch. The waitstaff polite, took great care of us. Both of us have stayed at many Marriott Resorts over the years and because of the exemplary service, we felt comfortable making reservations for this property. Marriott has always been a "go to" for business conventions and for personal vacations. Today not sure I have the same thought. Beautiful property, hope management irons out the wrinkles...the potential is there.

Nice hotel but be prepared to drive a lot

Our stay was pleasant for the most part. The hotel and staff were very nice. The other guests really are what ruined it for us. People running down the halls yelling and laughing at almost 3 am is unacceptable. The hotel really should do more to ensure quiet after 11 am. I was not a happy camper when I had to be up at 5 am to catch my flight. The a/c could stand to be colder as well. Otherwise the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The hotel is a bit of a drive away from dining and most attractions. It's located inside Stone Mountain Park so you pay $10 upon first arriving to get inside. They don't care if you have a reservation at the hotel. We had room service once which was pricey but good and considering it's a 30 minute drive to most outside restaurants a decent choice if you are tired of driving. The pool area was never really too crowded and they have nice giant outdoor chess and checkers set. They even played movies on a big screen later in the evening that you can watch while you swim. My 7 year old really enjoyed that. I would stay again but preferably during the off season when there aren't so many obnoxious guest.

We were in town for a family potluck and decided to stay some place nice away from the hassles of being around the family. We were excited and thrilled to have a place to go to that was quiet and peaceful.

Cons: The road map of the stone mountain park is pretty good, however, it could be reworked and improve the detail.

My family and I stayed for 4 nights to enjoy Stone Mountain and several of he Atlanta downtown attractions via the City passes. Leaving each morning after 10 am, we never encountered the awful downtown traffic that you hear about. The buffet in the hotel was really good considering we are not buffet eaters!? The pool was decent enough however although the pool hours had advertised operational hours from 7:30 am to 11 am, because of the cleaning that has to be done, the guys do not finish every morning until 9:30 am, which is fine of course as no one wants to swim in a dirty pool BUT don't advertise pool hours that begin at 7:30!? We had a hearty Itinerary during our stay here with all of our downtown events so my children were actually up at 7:30 am waiting to get in the pool. The only other disappointment that we had was The Commons restaurant. The wait was horrible (given it was NOT crowded at all), the food was horrible and the price was way too expensive given the first too. Many other couples there also complained. The manager did apologize but it was a major disappointment given how beautiful the restaurant view was looking toward Stone Mountain. We we definitely go back again, just hope the pool hours are accurate.

Very Nice place to stay, very clean but don't count on a king bed, I dont mind a queen ifa king is not available but their only option is 2 doubles-they should upgrade their rooms to 2 queens. Lots of kids at the hotel, expected and okay, but they were still running around in the halls at 11:30 pm. We called the office and it took another 30 minutes for things to get quiet. I don't know where their parents where?!? Food was good, staff was very nice.
