Good location. We wanted downtownPosted Aug 24, 2014
Pros: Location & staff were great
Cons: Updating rooms
Location: Everything downtown
Location great. Rooms dated but staff wonderful. Great breakfast restaurant up front with wonderful food.

Near to downtown - it is only approved point.Posted Jun 25, 2014
Location: To the Renaissanse center, or GM buildings, 5 min. on foot. Downtown of Detroit is not safe palce, but almost no pedestrians you can encounter.
The carpet was dirty. You cannot take off you shoes. The air conditioner could not change the temperature. Its remote controle was broken and only the switch can be used. But its air conditioner was old and not powerful. This hotel does not have a laundry room. You have to go to a laundry 2 miles away in unsafe area. Staffs are freindly and kind.

Nice, clean budget hotel blocks from downtown.Posted Apr 30, 2014
Pros: Rooms as mentioned above were clean, as were all linens and bed covers. Room also had TV, Fridge, and Wi-Fi, with hot water as well.
Cons: I guess it could use an update, but it doesn't have to have one. It's a diamond in the rough, but not totally run down like some are saying it is.
Location: They have a restaurant (I didn't try it) and a continental breakfast. It 3-4 blocks from the RenCen and the rest of Detroit. Consider for Conventions.
I was looking for a budget hotel near the RenCen for M2X on Saturday night, and the Shorecrest did not disappoint. I found the service to be excellent and friendly, and when I asked for an extra pillow for my room, they promptly gave me one without any question or hassle. So they definitely got bonus points for that. Booking was simple and hassle free as well. The room was clean, and like other reviews have mentioned, did smell heavily of Lysol, but I didn't mind it too much. I let the room vent for a few minutes and it faded away after that. My room had a working mini fridge, a 32 inch TV (I think it was 32, didn't have a measuring tape haha), and working Wi-FI with good speed, so I really couldn't ask for much more at this price point. In any case, other reviews have mentioned that the rooms are dated, and they are. But honestly, I didn't care. This is not the Westin, and it doesn't need to be. It was a nice budget hotel, and I probably will come back sometime this year. My only real complaint with my stay is that they only had heat or no heat due to the fact they were still running the furnace in winter mode, and no real way to adjust it. But the night I stayed at the Shorecrest, the weather was cool, so the room did stay warm throughout the night. But if it was warmer, I might have roasted haha. I would recommend this hotel if you need something cheap near downtown Detroit (they are 3-4 blocks from the RenCen) and are not looking for a luxury hotel.

Motel was only okay and not in the best location.Posted Jan 21, 2014
Pros: How close it was to the COBO Centre. Cab only cost 3$.
Cons: The rooms could def be upgraded.
Location: The location was the worst part felt uneasy walking around and going places Many abandoned buildings and houses around. Not many restaurants or stores
The Motel was okay for a one night stay. Lots of abandoned houses in the area, hard to find places to eat and shop. An uneasy feeling when walking around or going places other than the COBO Centre.

Key Location, Good Service, Old BuildingPosted Feb 23, 2011
The hotel is positioned very close to the Detroit Greektown, which makes its location the best in the city. It has good service and the employees are very polite and kind. But the hotel building is old and in need of some investment for repairs and updates.
