Great price and location convenience

Posted Apr 7, 2014
Cons: Long term project: double glass windows to remove or minimize street noise.
We had a very nice experience at this hotel. The receptionist was very helpful and efficient in getting us checked in as well as making reservation for out taxi very early morning the following day (meaning 4:45AM). He even try to arrange a "capuccino" as we were leaving the hotel before breakfast is served. The room was very clean and comfortable. Towels are of good quality, water pressure is appropriate. The location is noisy but we knew that so it was OK.

Perfect location but pack some ear plugs.

Posted Oct 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel overall was nice. Extremely spacious room for Europe, but not much to it. We were there to see the city, so how pretty the room wasn't a priority to us anyways. The staff was the best we had in all of Italy. Over the top helpful and accomidating. The location was literally next to the train station and walkable to the main attactions. However, being so central it was extremely loud at night. We had to buy ear plugs just to sleep. There was a lot of traffic and construction.

Problems with the Annex

Posted Oct 5, 2013
Pros: The breakfast was decent enough and the staff pleasant and helpful.
Cons: Wifi connection to annex and the staircase lighting and elevator situation. Expedia should have the annex section listed separately
Location: Great location for the train station
While this hotel is a good location for the train station, I would avoid staying in the Annex which consists of a 4th floor location only. From the main entry, you will have to walk around to the back of this large building, at times passed groups of men hanging out drinking beer and contend with a large heavy door. The next problem is the tiny elevator which requires you to close two sets of doors for it to work. Needless to say, I had to climb up an almost dark staircase to the 4th floor ( to my surprize, one floor only had a sensor light) because the last people left the doors open on the 4th floor. It happened again when I went to leave and I had to go down 4 floors of the dim staircase to get the elevator and bring it up to get my suitcase. Also while they give you a WiFi code, it does not work in the Annex rooms nor the hallway. Booking with Expedia, they did not say the price was for the Annex. I got a note from the hotel telling me that I was in the Annex and would have to walk back to the main hotel for breakfast after I booked. The other problems I did not anticipate.

the worst hotel ever

Posted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: Worst hotel
Cons: Worst hotel
Location: Perfect
The worst hotel I have ever seen. It is not a hotel but a disaster. Breakfast was worst. Room was horrible. Access to room was like going to the moon, so difficult. Bathroom too small. Overall should not be rated. Exprdia should remove this horrible place from their listing.

Bad hotel at great location

Posted May 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
I just dont understand why they charge so much for such a place. It is not worth the price. The hotel however is in a very convinient location from tourist point of view as it is walking distance from railway station and great connectivity to rest of Venice

Perfect location!

We stayed here last week on our family vacation, the hotel was quite nice, the location is just perfect, across the street from the SM train station and most of the attractions are walking distance. The breakfast too was quite decent.

Good location, Good size

Posted Dec 11, 2012
The biggest plus for this hotel was its location.... almost directly across the street from the train station, and walking distance from many eateries. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was good size and the bath had plenty of room. The only drawbacks, albeit petty, were the shower door was difficult to move and there was no soapdish in the shower. Also, the breakfast was not that good, breakfast room was cramped and crowded. But all in all, for the price, this was a good hotel.

Awesome hotel across Firenze SMN

Posted Oct 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
Hotel is AWESOME! It's just across Firenze SMN and walking distance to the tourist sites. There is a mini-supermarket opposite to the hotel. For shopaholic to the Mall (factory outlet), SITA bus terminal is 2 right turns. You can't miss it! Breakfast is lovely especially the ham & cheese omelette. I casually requested for a hot water flask which they willingly provided with a returnable deposit of 20 euro. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Handy for station but avoid annexe rooms

Posted Oct 11, 2012
Pros: Very close to station -- friendly, helpful reception staff
Cons: Location of annexe rooms, poor layout of breakfast facilities
Location: Could not be nearer Firenze SMN train station.
The Aurora is very convenient if arriving in Firenze by train -- just across the street from one of the station exits. Reception staff were very kind and helpful when we arrived in a distressed state having been the victims of pickpockets on the train. Our room unfortunately was in an annexe in another buillding several minutes walk away round a couple of street corners, Access was by keypad code to open a heavy door at street level then elevator to 4th floor where another code-controlled door had to be negotiated. Breakfast buffet in the main hotel area was not the best we encountered in Italy. The self-service counter was very cramped making it difficult if several guests wanted to use it at the same time. In spite of these comments, I would use the hotel again but only if I could have a room in the main hotel.

Great Stay

Posted Oct 7, 2012
Pros: It has a nice garden in the back and staff was great.
Cons: Bed was too hard.
Location: Excellent location.
Great location, right next to the train station and convenient to bus stops. Staff was excellent. The only con was the beds were not very comfortable. Otherwise, I would definitely stay there again.
