OK

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: location
Cons: room smell, drop the "cash" deposit, which was refunded w/o checking the room. Kinda annoying and pointless
Location: inset into a long valley, less than 15 minutes from rushmore. eat early, town closes up at dark
Location was close to Rushmore, room condition was ok, cleaning was maybe a little below average. Breakfast was standard fair, but it was the most we paid in the area due to location, but not the nicest. Has a very odd policy about paying with cash, required a large deposit which was tucked under the cash drawer with no record or receipt, made me VERY nervous. ( did get it back). One clerk was a little short, the rest were nice. overall a average accommodation a little on the high side

Pros: Everything
Cons: Rooms need fridge and microwave.
Location: Custer SD.
Loved our hotel. It was our home for 4 days! Everyone was lovely and it was centrally located, which was perfect for our sightseeing needs. Only down side........would really like a fridge.

Good location, ok breakfast, slow wifi

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: wifi spottiness, breakfast offerings (higher quality of offerings), pool area
Location: anything you want to do in southwest South Dakota, prime location
The hotel is centrally located in Custer. The view from the back of the hotel is striking - face to face with the Black Hills. The room cleanliness was average, it did not feel dirty. The staff for the most part was friendly, except one person in particular. The wifi was off and on, not dependable. The pool is over-chlorinated, it burns your eyes upon entering the room. There are a lot of offerings for breakfast - cereal, cinnamon rolls, frozen waffles, bread, hard-boiled eggs, peanut butter, coffee, OJ, apple juice, milk, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, what you can expect from a free hotel breakfast. I think the hotel quality for the price paid was bit lacking, but understandable since we traveled during high tourist season - June.

Straight from the 70's. Noisy room. Dirty carpets with trash left by previous guests. Insufficient supply of breakfast foodstuffs. Most food was gone by 8:20 AM. Good location and friendly staff.

3 days in Custer, SD

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: newer towels, working AC
Location: Mt Rushmore, Custer State Park, Flinstones campground, hiking, biking, camping
The air conditioning didn't work, and the room was very stuffy and uncomfortable. Towels were very thin and well worn. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I wonder if it isn't time to do some updating to the rooms~
