Far from the beach with little to do.Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: Nothing i liked about this hotel.
Cons: Could use a total revamp.
The hotel restaurant closes at 7, not open for breakfast. Lot of derelicts populated the nearby streets, no where near the beaches had to cab or take the bus to waikiki. No nearby restaurants or entertainment activities except run down bars.Pictures seem to be photo shoped as nothing like expedia had shown.

Unlovely apartment conversionPosted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: room was large
Cons: almost everything
The room was a converted apartment in a tired high-rise. The bed was uncomfortable. the corridor was narrow and shabby. The room itself was sizable but sparsely furnished with sad-looking furniture. We used it as a crash pad for an overnight between the arrival of our flight from the mainland, and our onward flight to Kauai. It was tolerable for that (although very overpriced), but I wouldn't suggest it for anything beyond that.

Good location ,little ambiencePosted Jan 3, 2015
Pros: It was clean, spacious and a short taxi ride to the city
Cons: It could do with a revamp. Air conditioning was noisy & not very effective. Staff could be a little more effusive.
Location: See above
We chose this hotel due to an early flight to the airport the next morning. Most of the building seems to have permanent residents, As we were there New Years Day there were very few restaurants open for dinner. The staff weren't all that helpful with suggestions & we ended up having to catch a taxi to Waikiki for dinner. Very close to Chinatown but unfortunately a lot of derelicts populated the nearby streets.

long wait times for elevatorsPosted Dec 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
If you stay on the 35th floor, you may wait a while (15 minutes) for a lift. So if you stay here make sure you're in the teens. Pool Is great for lap swimming but nothing to capture our kids imagination. It is a little seedy outside.

For business, stay here. Good value for beach!Posted Nov 7, 2014 on Hotels.com
I had an overnight stay in Downtown HNL for a business meeting. Pros: Aston is close to the airport vs the craziness that is Waikiki. Room was a huge suite, felt like home. Large separate living room contemporarily appointed, leather couches, flatacreen, kitchen w marble counters. Coffee maxhine. Great birds eye view. Blackout drapes. Very central. Wake up call punctual. Reception people are All good and very helpful. McDonalds for breakfast closeby. Not touristy. Has ironing board and iron. Cons: when you arrive at the Executive Centre (1088 Bishop St.), there is no marquee or sign saying "Ascot". You need to immediately take escalator or push button to request elevator service to go down a level to Reception. If yoi need a taxi, ensure that Reception orders it for you. Do not assume you can flag one down. Didn't have time to use pool. Maybe next trip.

Clean hotel, friendly front deskPosted Nov 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
I've stayed at this hotel numerous times. The rooms are always clean and the front desk is very nice. Most of the units are privately owned and Aston manages them, hence sometimes the rooms I've had are really nice because the owners renovated them, and others are still nice but not as modern. location is good to walk to downtown restaurants, but if you want the "beach" experience then you should probably stay in waikiki. Great place to stay downtown

Great downtown hotel for business travelers!Posted Oct 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
Was there for a quick business meeting. Very convenient hotel. Rooms were big and comfortable with great views of downtown. It was a quick $20 dollar cab ride from the airport. Not a great place to walk around at night due to it's proximity to Hotel street. But if you are in town on business it's hard to beat this hotel.

Honolulu ExperiencePosted Sep 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
My wife and I found the Aston Hotel to be a nice stay. The staff was most friendly and helpful, especially on local restaurants within walking distance. We were on the 37th floor and had a spectacular view of the island. If you book a vacation at the Aston, call ahead for instructions for the parking deck entrance as it was difficult to find at first, but was fine after we learned what to do. Would stay there again.
