Never a 4 Star.

Posted Oct 31, 2014
Pros: The Staff.
Cons: It needs a complete upgrade, the list would be to long to write it here.
Location: One could not beat the location being near The Palace and the Station with both tourist shopping on your doorstep as is the local markets etc.
Four nights booked. Good safe parking at Hotel:Friendly check-in: Room tired, bathroom a disgrace, very old and small, bath worn out and looks stained with its glazed shower panel coming away from the wall, tiles at side of bath lose and they look like they are thirty years old - grubby grouting. The hallways smelt just like airline toilets. As a family of three (spare bed supplied) One large Double Bed and the spare bed looked as old as the tiles in the bathroom. The Beds were however reasonably comfortable and clean. The whole room was tired and over priced, there are better three star hotels. Requested a different room or upgrade but they are all as bad as each other, bar one that has been re-furbished I understand (the room was occupied), so we stayed put. Money has been spent on the foyer and entrance together with the restaurant, in fact the restaurant was being painted on the third day of our stay. The breakfast was very good by French standards, the staff were also very obliging but when the restaurant closed they were disjointed having to serve in the bar/reception area, so it went haywire. The one thing in its favour is the location, by the Palace and Station if you want to go to Paris. The Groups Ibis Hotel forms part of the building, it looks modern from the outside but it is not like that inside the Pullman Hotel. The one saving grace is the staff, without exception the best you could come across, and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable.

Very close to the palace

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: Bed was very comfortable and the concierge was very helpful and informative
Cons: Bathroom
Location: The palace near by and plenty of local eateries within 200 meter walk
Hotel bathroom could do with a refurbishment considering the cost per night

If this hotel were a dog, you'd put it down.

Very tired hotel, needs total refurbishment. No running water for a good part of my stay. Bed was very comfortable. Bar staff very rude, surly, unhelpful. Despite warning the hotel we had a big party for an international event at the Chateau so it would make sense to keep the bar open until 01:00, they closed it at 12:30 despite guests arriving looking for a nightcap. If it wasn't a business trip, if I wasn't exhausted from work, I would have argued for a full refund.

Live like a King in Versailles

Posted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: I liked the attention to detail in service and décor. The overall ambiance was tranquil.
Cons: Value for money could be better.
Location: The Chateau and Gardens of Versailles are a must visit. The tranquil Gardens can be visited for free if the crush of the Chateau is not for you.
There was a warm welcome at the reception desk. My room was spacious and comfortable. The ambiance of the hotel was relaxed. I enjoyed the fine dining experience in the restaurant. The waiting staff were attentive. The platters looked beautiful and tasted delicious. The bed was very comfortable giving a good night sleep. Check out was easy.

Needs serious rethink

Posted Oct 8, 2014
This hotel was very disappointing. No running water on arrival and we were told nothing as to why; the bar had agreed to stay open till 1am when we enquired specifically a few days before (we came in after an event at the chateau) but they closed before 12.30 and were extremely unfriendly about it. Food is vastly overpriced and not great, 33 euros for a dryish piece of steak, 16 Euros for a small bowl of minestrone, 26 Euros for breakfast. On the good side the cleaning and day staff were friendly. But this hotel gives the impression of being in sad decline, rather like France itself, and I say that with regret as I love France and spend a lot of time there.

Pullman Chateau

Posted Sep 26, 2014
Pros: Gym had a sauna and steam room, all of which were open 24hrs so you could use anytime, no restrictions. Location right in heart of Versailles
Location: In middle of Versailles 200m from train station and palace. With local cafe bars only 5 mins walk.
Hotel and facilities are good, staff spoke excellent English. I was lucky enough to be on the top floor so I had a small balcony which I could stand on and admire the world go by with a coffee. Price of Breakfast is over the top 22 Euros for a coffee and croissant and juice. Next to the hotel the Ibis (you can just walk in) do the same breakfast for 9 euros, as does local cafes by the bus stop for 6 euro. Great local reastraunts only 5 minutes walk away off the market square, typical French cafe bars spilling out on to the street, very reasonble. Don't forget there is a 6 Euro city tax when you check out.

Perfect for Palace of Versailles

Posted Sep 6, 2014
Pros: Staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Cons: Parking costs are very high for their underground car park, probably cheaper to park on the road! The restaurant is also eye wateringly expensive!
Location: Apart from the palace the main market square full of fantastic restaurants is only 10 mins walk. Recommend you do this rather than eat in!
This hotel is right in font of the main gates for the palace so a perfect selection for those visiting the Palace as we were. Read some comments before booking about rooms being a bit tired but ours was in great condition and very comfortable.

Very comfortable hotel in good location.

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Helpful staff. Most comfortable beds we have found in any hotel. Secure underground car park. Nice restaurant.
Cons: Nothing!
Location: Virtually at the gates of Versailles Palace. Under five minute walk from trains to centre of Paris.
We spent three nights there on our way to Southern France by car. We wanted to visit both Versailles Palace and central Paris. Hotel location was perfect for this - station round the corner allowed a full day in Paris roaming with a one-day metro ticket - palace a short walk away allowed us to be there as it opened without getting up too early. The hotel's car park meant we could forget about the car during our stay and use public transport around Paris.
