Wonderful location. Hotel disappointing.

Posted Jan 7, 2015
Pros: Glorious location near the Palace and station and walkable to town.
Cons: Room needed updating. Catering needs better management.
We stayed her a couple of years ago, but didn't seem to have such a good time this time. The room was dated, bathroom shabby, cracked tiles, lacking toiletries. Room smelt of smoke, which is horrible. Had to ask housekeeping for milk. Couldn't get in the car park as it was full, so had to park on the road outside, with difficulty. It was New Years Eve and the restaurant was fully booked (although we found a glorious bistro in the market place that was about a quarter of the price the hotel were charging for supper - so we were lucky that the hotel was full). I had an awful hot chocolate from the bar in the afternoon - wasn't worth nearly 5 euros. Final disappointment was breakfast. The hotel was obviously very full, but the shambolic breakfast was almost laughable. They had lots of staff, but no one seemed to know what they were doing! They were cross when I asked for tea and when it came it was vile (a hotel of this calibre should know how to make tea properly). I had to ask for butter and milk and there was no jam. Overall the hotel seems to have gone down in the previous two years and the room we were in needs updating. I wouldn't rush to recommend, although location is wonderful.

chambre à rénover

Posted Jan 5, 2015

an overnight in Versailles...

Posted Nov 23, 2014
Pros: Dinner was very good.
Cons: room & floors need painting & updating...
Location: right by the Chateau if you are visiting, but will be overpriced during the season.
Just a quick in & out for work. Hotel OK, but needs paint & an upgrade to the rooms. Gym needs more equipment., parking access easy enough.

Never a 4 Star.

Posted Oct 31, 2014
Pros: The Staff.
Cons: It needs a complete upgrade, the list would be to long to write it here.
Location: One could not beat the location being near The Palace and the Station with both tourist shopping on your doorstep as is the local markets etc.
Four nights booked. Good safe parking at Hotel:Friendly check-in: Room tired, bathroom a disgrace, very old and small, bath worn out and looks stained with its glazed shower panel coming away from the wall, tiles at side of bath lose and they look like they are thirty years old - grubby grouting. The hallways smelt just like airline toilets. As a family of three (spare bed supplied) One large Double Bed and the spare bed looked as old as the tiles in the bathroom. The Beds were however reasonably comfortable and clean. The whole room was tired and over priced, there are better three star hotels. Requested a different room or upgrade but they are all as bad as each other, bar one that has been re-furbished I understand (the room was occupied), so we stayed put. Money has been spent on the foyer and entrance together with the restaurant, in fact the restaurant was being painted on the third day of our stay. The breakfast was very good by French standards, the staff were also very obliging but when the restaurant closed they were disjointed having to serve in the bar/reception area, so it went haywire. The one thing in its favour is the location, by the Palace and Station if you want to go to Paris. The Groups Ibis Hotel forms part of the building, it looks modern from the outside but it is not like that inside the Pullman Hotel. The one saving grace is the staff, without exception the best you could come across, and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable.
