Heart of Fisherman's Wharf. Cheap and clean!

Posted May 20, 2015
Can't beat the location and price. Rooms were cozy and clean. Some noise when people walked by, but people seemed generally respectful by keeping quiet. Free parking!

I left my heart in San Francisco

Posted May 19, 2015
We were very pleased with our stay at the Whaft Inn. I requested to have an early check in and the room was ready when I got there. The staff was very friendly. I was pleased with the service. I am glad I requested a room in the back of the building because the corner is very busy. The location of the hotel was very good and close to many restaurants. The hotel could use a new paint coat since it is an old hotel but the room was very comfortable.

Convenient

Posted May 18, 2015
Pros: The staff was very friendly. I found Brian to be especially helpful and I asked him a lot of questions.
Cons: SO cold in the room told no heater because "this is SF" What? With the exception of a few everyone outside was bundled up. Why bundle up in my room!
Location: You can walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Pier 33 for Alcatraz cruise. The Big Bus takes off across the street. Food and shops everywhere.
#1 I was happy to find a nice place with free parking. We weren't familiar with the city and being there only a couple of days I was convenient for walking to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, Pier 39 and Pier 33 to go to Alcatraz.

Very pleased

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: Free onsite parking and location.
Cons: Maybe some painting in the hallways. Overall for an older property it was in pretty good shape.
Location: Fishermans wharf, shopping, tour bus station, all kinds and variety of restaurants, from Fast food to very expensive, Pier 39 and seal watching.
We were able to park car onsite. Tour bus station across the street. We had a nice balcony with view of the Embarcadero and the water. Walking distance to wide range of restaurants, shopping, and siteseeing. We were very happy with our stay.

Horrible experience.

Posted May 9, 2015
The room was dirty, the floor was sticky, the wall was sticky. There was hair stuck to the wall. The room was not air conditioned. We checked out the next morning and went to another hotel. They would not refund the other two days that we had prepaid. Do not stay at The Wharf Inn.

Very comfrtable hotel in the heart of the bay.

Very comfortable accomodations in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. Staff were courteous & and friendly, rooms were good, and the free parking is a huge plus (which is great for travelers on a budget. The Holiday Inn which is 2 blocks away charges $50 to park your car per night, on top of what their room rate is). I will definately make the Wharf Inn my go-too hotel when I return to SF.

Depends on what you care about most

The Wharf Inn has a few benefits and a few issues as well. The Good News: Unbeatable location - easy walk to ANY tourist spot - Pier 39, Alcatraz Landing, Fishermans Wharf, Ghiradelli Square, Exploratorium, cable cars, etc. Free Parking - depending on length of stay, can save you hundreds... Nice staff, clean room and decent beds... The Bad News Dated interiors - definitely needs some fresh paint, new furniture and bath fixtures. Crazy water temp fluctuations - will drive you nuts although we did manage to find the "magic spot" on the knob that maintained a consistent temp. No A/C - not a big deal in April, but a consideration for a July/August stay. Overall, I guess it depends on what is most important to you. If location and saving some cash matters most, go for it! If your hotel needs to meet higher comfort standards and has to offer amenities, you may want look elsewhere... I'd recommend it for a 1-2 night stay, maybe for 3 nights.
