The Holiday IslandPosted Jun 11, 2014
Pros: This hotel is central to everything you want to do on the island and the view each day was magic.
Cons: We enjoyed everything at the hotel.
Location: Firostefani has everything you need for a long or short stay, shops/restaurants/tourist information and transportation.
This was our 3rd visit to Santorini and we will go back again because it isn't called The Holiday Island for nothing. If you want either beaches, bars, scenery, sunsets, food, wine, shops, history(the list goes on) then all you need is a good hotel and start walking or driving. This visit we stayed at the Afrodete Hotel in Firostefani and found it just perfect for all the above. Angeliki and staff at the hotel were just so helpful with local knowledge and always had a smile on their face.

Good value for moneyPosted May 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
Room was small but pretty. The hotel looks towards the east but is a 5 minute walk from the spectacular views of the Caldera. Staff were really friendly and helpful- picked us up from the bus station and paid for our taxi back to the bus station as we were not very well so couldn't do the 15 minute walk. Don't be fooled by the photo of this hotel though- the pool is the size of a hot tub.

Great location near to town.Posted May 19, 2014
Pros: The bed was particularly comfortable, and I was greeted with freshly baked cake on arrival.
Cons: Noticing needs improving, at the time of my stay everything was top notch.
Location: Town is nearby, with plenty of shopping, tours are available daily of the island and volcano, and there are plenty of delicious eateries.
Afrodete is a lovely hotel, and if I return to Santorini it will definitely be my hotel of choice. The staff are lovely, and go out of their way to help with anything needed, including transport, and tours around the island. The rooms are in excellent condition, and the balconies and communal areas are relaxing and inviting.

Lovely boutique hotel with a fantastic hostPosted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: Breakfast, Angeliki - the owner and her helpful tips, the Spa, the location being not too close but not too far from the town centre.
Location: Walk into Fira in 10 minutes. If you're going to get Gyros go to Obelisk. For dinner the Galini cafe was good value and had a beautiful sunset view.
Angeliki was a fantastic host - she provided us with recommendations and plans for all our activities and it was lovely to be able to stay with her. Our room was great; very open and with a balcony view of the sea (not caldera side but very beautiful nonetheless). Bar fridge, air con, TV, and free wifi provide the necessities. The spa was fun and good to come back to when you feel you've done enough walking for the day. Breakfast was great; greek yoghurt, fruit, muffin, toast with cold meats, cheese, and an assortment of jam and honey with tea / coffee. This was a fantastic start to our lazy days and meant you didn't get hungry for lunch while out at the beach or sightseeing. Like a lot of places in Santorini, it seems that privacy isn't huge here. Our room was very close to the spa (bonus!) but that meant we couldn't leave the shutters open when getting changed etc. I liked the interaction with other guests and openness of the hotel but others may find they prefer more of their own space.

Lovely host, location, and facilitiesPosted Sep 26, 2013
We felt very welcomed by our host, and she was always so helpful every time we turned to her for advice or a question. Our room was very roomy, and included a fridge that was incredibly handy. We loved soaking in the view to the East from the hotel, and the sunrise from the balcony is breathtaking. The restaurant next door (Taverna Simos) is popular for good reason. You'll be hard pressed to find better food and better service at their relatively low prices anywhere on the island. Getting around from the hotel is easy, whether you walk south to Fira, walk north through Firostefani and on toward Ia, or walk south 15 minutes to the island's central public bus station and take a quick bus ride anywhere on the island.

Highly recommendedPosted Apr 11, 2012
Pros: Helpfulness of the owner
Cons: Small bathroom
Location: Perfect, close to town centre but not in the heart of it, so no noise at night
The hotel owner Angeliki was very friendly and helpful. She suggested things to do, restaurants, walks and all sorts. Nothing was a problem for her. She even filled the pool for us...even though it was still what they classed as winter. We had a very pleasant stay and would most definitely recommend it and stay there again and again.

Great Service and lovely hotelPosted Oct 4, 2011 on Hotels.com
Very near bus stop and main tourist shops. After a minute walk up steep slop, you are greeted by a lovely family run hotel with impeccable service. Very trustworthy owners. The receptionist is very helpful with local information and willing to go out of her way to make sure everything is provided including bus timetables. I think we had the best room in the hotel (ground floor facing the pool). very spacious always clean and certainly where you can relax. Shower was tiny, but clean and adquate. Quite at night too. We paid 40Euro a night, low season for two people.
