"Feels off the grid in a great way"
Whether swimming in the turquoise blue sea or enjoying the calming water of your private pool, no detail is overlooked. From the friendly staff, to the delicious food... From the hanging lanterns to the smell of copal wafting through the air, BeTulum over delivers in every way. They were successful at curating the ultimate beach get-away. We loved every minute of it and plan to go back.

"An Amazing Experience."
Lets start with the awe inspiring entrance and smells of incense in the lobby. The cool wash cloth and cold cucumber and mint water awaiting my husband and I were well recieved after a 90 minute drive from Cancun. The staff were/are AMAZINGLY attentive. Goudy carried our bags while he gave us a tour of the property on the way to our room. The room was in Villa 4 with a partial ocean view. It was clean and very cold. People have complained about the music at the pool, but it was welcomed for us. They are in transition from a gay resort to a wellness one. The music only plays until 6pm, however, the view from the infinity pool and the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks was so AMAZING, that it was easy to block out the dance music until a good song came on. The food was AMAZING. You could eat from the buffet, or order off of rotating menus with a Japanese, Italian, or Mexican theme, or you could do both a buffet and order off the menu. Alcoholic drinks are all included, except if you want a bottle of wine or champagne. The food is so fresh, tastes great, and a total experience you must enjoy everyday. At breakfast I recommend the huevos rancheros and a cappuccino - AMAZING. In short, beautiful grounds with free WiFi in the game room, spectacular view of the Carribean Sea, and close proximity to the Coba and Tulum ruins. Public beach access is just down the road. And there is a huge sense of security, because the police are posted outside the front gates.

"Simple, yet very quiet and relaxing!"
Would recommend if you're planning to experience Tulum Playa. We stayed 3 nights in room 22 beachside and it was surrounded by lush green and just steps down a small path to the beach. This hotel is a part of The Beach Tulum and is also associated with Ziggy's restaurant. Each morning we had a complimentary breakfast at Ziggy's and was a huge plus to be able to start our day with a beachside breakfast and a quick email catch-up with their complimentary internet. Location is toward the middle of the beach zone and an easy walk up or down the beach to the various restaurants and resorts. Only complaint was from my wife, who wanted hot water instead of the warm water from their showers. Other than that, we'd return in a heartbeat if we come back.

"Very nice room on the beach...."
We had a great stay. Everyone was awesome. Spend the extra $ and get a beach front bungalow, its worth it. Rudy and Tony were awesome and made our trip even more fun. We told them it was our anniversary and we got a free dinner on the beach. There will be topless women on the beach, so if you can't handle seeing that, Tulum is not the place for you. We went to the Tulum ruins, which we would recommend. Akumal Bay was awesome and easy to get to by taxi. We took our own snorkeling gear but they do have it to rent and also lockers you can rent too. Snorkeling with turtles, rays, and fish in calm water. It was very hard to snorkel off of the hotel beach because of the larger waves than at Akumal. We spent an afternoon and went to Playa Del Carmen. Bad idea. Everyone tries to pull you in their shop and sell you weed and the same crap as the guy next door. I wouldn't waste your time or money. Night walks on the beach were great. Make sure you take a flashlight. There are crabs everywhere. When we go back we will rent a car because everywhere you want to go is a long walk and taxi fares add up very quick. Simple was a great place to eat and is right down the road. Also, the pizza at OM resort was awesome and is a short walk up the beach. Back to the Mestizo, they did everything they could to make our trip amazing. Lastly, small bills are pointless in Mexico. Anything less than a fifty peso bill is not needed. A beer is 45 pesos

"Great hotel on the beach."
Hotel Kin-Ha Playa exceeded my expectations. The oceanfront room was clean and simple with a heavenly breeze. The bar was great. The beach was right there. The proprietor and staff were friendly and attentive and always on site. This is not a luxury hotel- it's a simple, lovely place with everything you need (including electricity).

"Cozy jungle-like hotel"
The hotel was situated above a bakery, and hard to find. Parking was available right at the front gate. The room was cozy, with air conditioning, refrigerator, TV and sitting area. Nice closet and comfortable bed. Many cats were on the premises (and on the stairs,) the hotel has a beautiful court yard with lots of vegetation. Wifi signal was weak in the rooms, but there was a seating area outside the rooms. Overall, this hotel is a hidden gem.

"Neighborhood Sanctuary"
I spent nine days at PYK during a recent visit that was mostly business, but--as all visits to Tulum are--also pleasure and relaxation. The staff was always eager to please, and the entire place was kept immaculately clean. Being a landscape designer and contractor myself, I always take note of the use of plant material and other spaces outdoors. PYK has a wonderful plant palette, with beautiful native tropical flora throughout the hotel. The use of natural materials in the architecture and spaces made for an exotic ambiance. I had a very small single room with only a mini fridge and coffee maker, but it only took a day to consider it my cute little home and sanctuary where I could conduct business, banking and correspondence online from my little desk in the room. The AC was quiet and efficient, with the chirping Geckos and tropical bird songs outside easily out-competing the dispensing of cool air. The WiFi was strong and consistent. The service by staff was thorough, yet unobtrusive. Book with confidence.

Pocket Guide: Riviera Maya Tulum Independent Hotels

Built on a bluff facing the rising sun, the Mayan ruins of Tulum offer breathtaking views of the Caribbean. Just south of Akumal, Tulum’s proximity to Cancun makes it the most visited archeological site in Mexico. The village of Tulum, along the main highway, offers shops, restaurants, and cantinas. To the north, tourists can swim with dolphins or dive among brilliantly colored fish at Xel-Ha.
