Nice place to stay

Comfortable with a helpful staff. Great place for us since it was right by the NJ Light Rail.

Very nice if a bit expensive

The hotel is comfortable and accessible to New York and Northern NJ sites and scenes. The staff were incredibly helpful and nice. It still was a bit too much money for me to consider it a location for a family vacation. It’s perfect for the business traveler.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Since this hotel is only minutes away from the Liberty State Park even a business traveler should try to get out to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island when staying here.

Jersey City-a great place with access to NY

The Doubletree is well located, convenient to the train and ferry and also close to the galleries and restaurants located in Jersey City.

Access to the Statue of Liberty through Liberty State Park (a light rail ride away from the hotel) is less crowed than the Battery Park route.

Very Impressed

This was our second stay at this hotel. Very nice staff, very clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds and nice shower too. Great cookies when you check in is always a plus! Reasonably priced. Very close to the PATH connection trains to go to the city. Always felt safe. Will definitely stay there again if we go to New York.

Room was very nice

The room was very nice; the bed THE most comfortable I’ve ever slept in in any hotel. Room service food was not "piping hot" and the hamburger was overcooked. Also, I called for Maintenance to come adjust the too cold air conditiong; they never showed up.

Great stay

The hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to the harbor and riverwalk, a huge mall and the Path which takes you into New York City. Very convenient! The only drawback was the construction next door, but the room was so quiet it didn’t disturb us. Our room was extra roomy with an additional sitting area. They also had a restaurant located in the hotel which was very nice. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

Nice Hotel, but Noisy

We stayed at the Doubletree for 6 nights in June 2009. We found it to be a great alternative to staying in Manhatttan- larger rooms and a much lower rate. It’s an all-suite hotel, although the living/sleeping areas are separated by a half wall, unless you get a corner room. The lot next to the hotel is a very busy construction site right now- we were awoken each weekday morning by the noise. Although it’s not the hotel’s fault that there was noise next door, it was VERY loud. We were moved on the fourth day as the water line to our side of the hotel was cut. We were moved into a corner suite on away from the construction, which I found to be a much better room and layout. My only other issue with the hotel was the housekeeping service- it took two days to get extra water glasses for the four of us, and the housekeeper kept throwing away the complimentary toiletries left in the shower, but not replacing them. The fitness center is good- small, but well-equipped. There’s a shopping mall a block away and the PATH station is just a little further- about a 5 minute walk. That was very convenient for getting in and out of the city. Overall, we were satisfied with the hotel, but I think we’d choose another hotel nearby next time.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There’s a grocery a block or two from the hotel- we found it easy and economical to stock up on soda, snacks, fruit and pastries to keep in our room.

Near to PATH station, easy to reach NY

Hotel is located conveniently to around places. Reaching 33rd/34th street very easy using PATH and less expensive too. Best hotel if you want to visit only couple of places like Empire state building and Liberty statue

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Jersey side Liberty statue park is just 20 mins from hotel and has enough parking space. Reaching around 8.30 to 9.00 am will get lot of time in island and can be back by 12noon. We could not get Monument pass online, but when we reached early could get from the ticket counter easily. So go early !!!

Good place for short trip

This hotel is very convenient and very good value for a short trip to NY. Access to the city is quite easy via PATH. Parking is a bit tricky at the hotel, and costs extra, and a large construction project next door mars the view a bit and complicates access. But, you don’t go there to see Jersey City -- it is still a good place to stay for visiting Manhattan.

Had a great time

We stayed at the Doubletree Club Suites in Jersey City on a stopover in NYC as we travelled to NH for the holidays from VA. It was easy to get to off the Jersey Turnpike; the PATH station was a couple blocks away, and it was an easy train trip (15 min) to the corner of 33rd and Broadway (Macys!); the suite had 2 doubles and a pull-out couch, plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 children (ages 2, 8 and 11). The only problems: 1) we were under the impression we could park in a (secured) lot across the street, however due to construction taking place next to the hotel, we were met with a valet ($20). The cost was less the issue than the fact that we couldn’t easily access or monitor our car, which was full of skis, Christmas presents, and bags for a week’s stay in new england. This was one reason we had opted to not stay in the city. 2) there are not many family-friendly restaurants nearby, and the hotel restaurant was closed the night we were there for a private party (check this if you expect to return to dinner at the hotel after a long day in the city!) We were able to order take-out from a nearby Chilis and eat in the room - fine because we were exhausted. On the other hand, right behind the hotel was a BJ’s, supermarket, and a couple blocks away more shopping (Target, JC Penney, etc) with the convenience of big parking lots for the mini-van family. We will definitely do this again, and will likely stay at this hotel.

Great Place

I found the Doubletree Suite to be a great place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the hotel was very neat and clean. I was visiting during the Christmas season and the prices in Manhattan were very expensive so I checked outside the city. They were so much cheaper here and it was much nicer and bigger than the hotels I have staying in in Manhattan for much more money. I was a little nervous about staying in Jersey City but I felt very safe in the area that the Doubletree was located. The location was also great for catching the train into Manhattan. The area between the hotel and the train station was very nice and new and was very well lit. The only thing that we didn’t realize was that the train does run on a schedule so we did have to wait awhile for a train back to the hotel late one night but I think that earlier in the evening it runs more frequently. Of course it would have been a little more convenient to stay in the city but all in all I thought it was a great place to stay and will definetly stay there again.

A Great Home Base for Visiting NYC

My family and I stayed overnight while showing our 9 year old (and 2 year old) the best sites in NYC. HOtel was easy to find and near the Jersey Liberty Park. Service was great and room was nice. Our room was only on the 2nd floor so we didn’t have a view of the city, but was comfortable and roomy. The kids loved having a corner room where they could see all the traffic! The PATH train was nearby and easy to find. It was easy and inexpensive to get around the city. Had a great weekend!

Family vacation to New York

We were very happy with the quality of the room and the conveniant and safe location of the hotel to everything and everywhere we needed to be. It was a very enjoyable vacation to New York and the ability to return to the Doubletree every night made the trip that much more enjoyable. We made the right choice staying here.

Perfect!

An absolutely perfect overnight stay in a very spacious suite with 2 very comfortable double beds, a pull out couch, desk, microwave, mini-refrigerator, huge closet, and nice bathroom with a high flow shower head. Paid a very decent rate through expedia. Allowed me to check-in early, about 2 hours early in fact and gave me chocolate chip/walnut cookies. The only draw back, which for me wasn’t really all that big a deal, was the $15/night parking. Usually that’s free.

Great Value when visiting NYC

We recently took our first trip to the Big Apple and after reading others reviews of the Doubletree it sounded like the best option. We were not disappointed at all. The staff was very helpful in giving directions to the PATH station (only a few blocks away), and the train ride into the city was quick and easy. There are numerous restaurants, a grocery store and shopping mall within walking distance and we felt completely safe and comfortable walking around the neighborhood.

Would stay again anytime.

Hotel was very clean, quiet, and the restaurant in the hotel was very good. Restaurant row is only a few blocks away with a good selection of seafood, mexican, chinese, and others.

Close to centre street mall. The mall is very big with a lot of shops. Close to the PATH that goes into NEW York City and to the World Trade Center.

Good choice

We wanted to explore Manhatten, and it was a good choice to stay at the Doubletree in Jersey City. The hotel is very good with very nice rooms, and it is easy to get to Manhatten using the Path train. We would certainly stay there again.

Great hotel, nice area, easy access to Manhattan

This hotel was a great home base for us and our three children as we explored NYC. The staff was very friendly and helpful - always willing to share information on trains, subways, etc... The area around the hotel was very nice and we felt extremely safe. There was a mall right next door, and a waterfront area with shops about a block away. That was a great place to view the Manhattan skyline across the Hudson. The PATH train was in the waterfront area as well, and we could be in Midtown Manhattan in 15 minutes from there. Parking was $15 per day, in an attended, open lot right in front of the hotel. We felt that our car was very secure and just left it sitting and used public transportation. Internet access is available in the rooms, for a fee. However, there is free wireless access in the lobby, including free printing.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Statue of Liberty - take a ferry right from Jersey City. Board a light rail train behind the hotel, go to Liberty State Park, and then get on a ferry to Ellis Island and the statue. There was no line to buy tickets and no line to get on the ferry. Once you see the statue, you can either go back to Jersey or get on the other ferry to go to Manhattan.
