Fabulous location

We loved the location of the hotel to the beach, transportation and restaurants and shops. While some of the front desk people could be surly, the bellhops were all extremely helpful and friendly. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room overall was pretty nice. We liked having a fridge, but wished there was a fan in the bathroom.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you are going to Pearl Harbor to see the U.S.S. Arizona, call first to find out the policy on bags and purses. If they are not allowing any bags that day, they do have a bag check.

Extremely Satisfied

Excellent room for the price. Room service was lightning fast. Much better dollar worth compare to Beachcomber, even though beachcomber is slightly better but almost double the price. I recommend Ohana East.

The staff makes it a 5

A basic, comfortable hotel located a reasonably short walk from Waikiki Beach and other attractions. But the friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff made it extra special. Also, the attached restaurants are all really good for different price ranges: Chucks Cellar -- decent steaks and seafood, Keoni by Keo -- Thai at night and amazing breakfast during the morning Round Table Pizza -- wasn’t great but cheap and there for the kids or a quick bite.

Can’t wait to go back

Liked the exercise room. Pool area was awesome. Front desk, bell staff, housekeeping, and maintenence personnel were very pleasent. The activities desk people were very helpful. It was a no-hassle wonderful time.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Ask about the "Food Pantry" grocerie store right across the street. It has excellent asian and hawaiian food including sushi. Also, ask about "Perry’s Smorgy Restaurant" which is a buffet that has very reasonable prices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is all-you-can-eat. I especially liked the papaya. ;)

Would stay here again!

Very clean rooms, helpful staff, close to the beach. Great price since we didn’t spend much time in the room. The kids loved coming back to the hot tub and pool after a day of site seeing or spending the day on the beach. Close to shopping and dining. If we ever come back to Oahu I would definitely stay here again.

Traveler's tip

Not sure if the laundry room that is located on the lower level of the hotel is associated with the hotel or not but I would not recommend doing laundry on Friday night. Too much night life for this small town family.

Received upgrade room. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel convenient, parking ample and easily accessible, room always clean with friendly maid. Only thing holding back is location not on beach, although very close.

Handy location, close to Waikiki main street. Price is reasonable. I don’t think it’s a really classy hotel but it’s suit for handy leisure purpose.

Nice Extras

Excelent room service...free local and long distance telephone calls...free Waikiki shuttle bus (open air) service...very close to discount shops...easy walk to beach and to parks.

Great Hotel close to everything

This was our 3rd time staying at this hotel. We had a great stay. The power was out for 12 hrs on the island, but the staff at the hotel was great. They were very helpful when everything went wrong the next day. No hot water on top floors but we got it when maitenance fixed the problem. We will be back in 2009 in Sept. See you then.

4th time but will not go back

Our family has stayed here for the last 4 years and always been delighted. This year they wanted to try and charge us $10 more per night to be on the 2nd floor(never in the past). The desk clerk said times are tough so management is requiring it. Then we were put in a room filled with cigarette smoke so we requested a move. Afer unloading our luggage, the person in the room next to us started smoking. I asked for security’s help and they only offered to move us again instead of confronting the violator(this is a no smoking hotel). There are too many other hotels just as nice as the Ohana East in Waikiki who want your business.

Wouldn’t hesitate to go back

I found this hotel to be perfectly situated for the beach and shopping. Convient to all the bus lines. The room was always cleaned properly and Housekeeping was very accomadating for all of our request for any extras. I would go back to this hotel.

Great experience

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel based on other ones I’ve stayed at in Waikiki. Location was top notch. It was nice to be able to walk such short distances to get anything I needed. Staff was great. One day, during my 2-week stay, the hotel was full to capacity and there appeared to be no parking in their garage. When I mentioned it to a staff member he had me take his spot. I would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful wine bar/restaurant called Vino. It’s on Ala Moana in the same shopping center as Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Absolutely amazing wine list and the food is the best I’ve had in a long time.

Ohana East

This hotel is very nice to stay at and located in the middle of Waikiki and one block from the beach. With the excetion of one front desk person. All staff there is very nice and helpful. Even the bell guy will greet you with Good morning. Its really nice.

Choose this hotel when you do a package. Its nice and clean. Has a business center for you to use for a small fee.

First time in Hawaii

This was the first time in Hawaii for my wife and I. We looked for a hotel that would be centered around the activities. Ohana East was definitely the answer for us. The beach was just a short walk away and the bus and trolley stops were very close. The hotel staff was friendly and helped us with any of our questions and needs. Will we stay at Ohana East on our next trip? You bet we will!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We saved money by using the trolley with our passes and by using the bus when going where the trolleys did not go. We also used the Go Oahu card that let us save money on the attractions that we wanted to see.

Great hHotel, Excellent Location and even better...the price

Located right in the heart of Waikiki, the Ohana East is located withing walking distance of the beach and all of the shopping you might need to do in Waikiki. The rooms were very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable and the A/C system worked very well. The bathroom shower was small however. Overall the best bang for the buck.

Go to Aloha stadium on Wednesday, Saturdays and Sundays for affordable clothing and jewelery

Good Hotel

Only problem we had was ants in our room. Otherwise staff is friendly and it is a perfect location in Waikiki with their own parking garage. ($18.00 a day)

Great Location

If you want a reasonable rate and proximity to great shopping , restaurants, and the beach, Ohana East is a good pick. You can walk everywhere and there are places to buy food to take back to the room. A small park with a bus stop is across the street. We had a city view room. It was comfortable with sitting area for reading. The shower is narrow but the shower head was super. A separate dressing nook with a small refrigerator is convenient.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

We avoided eating out for every meal buying by bringing fruit, etc back to the room. The expresso coffee bar serves some food too and has computers you can use to print your boarding passes for the flight home.

disappointed

We have had 4 previous stays at this hotel that had all been good. At check in we were put in a corner end room that was 3/4 the size of a standard room. The entry way light was out and the closet door wouldn’t close. We found the front desk staff to be less than helpful and bordering on rude. On two occasions we were awoken by fire alarms in the middle of the night. We were never able to get anyone at the front desk or security to get any information on either occasion. Overall a disappointing stay.

Great value

This hotel offers a great value for the money. It is a little old, but right in the heart of Waikiki with walking-distance to all the hotspots. Parking at the hotel is a bit expensive, but so is all parking in Waikiki. Rooms are small but have free internet (!), a fridge and a safe. What more can you ask for?

The bus is really easy to take, and the bus stop is right by the hotel. I would recommend using the bus as transportation, as you will save a lot of money.

Great Location !!!!

Location was great because it was in the middle of all Waikiki’s activities and access to the bus/shuttle was close by. The room was clean and even though we were located above the pool area, it was quiet. One recommendation was that the bathroom could use a fan. After taking a shower the bathroom was musty and had alittle mildew smell. But overall, it was a great place to stay. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly.

We would tell all of our friends that this hotel was so much fun to stay at. Everyone from bellman to the front desk was very helpful. The hotel was close to the beach and to shopping and to some very nice restaraunts. Also close to the bus (local transit)to go anywhere you can’t walk to.
