Can’t wait to go back!

If you go to Memphis, you should absolutely make this hotel your first choice. This hotel was worth every penny. From the ducks, to the courteous and polite staff, this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in several years.

The best in Memphis

While it may cost a little extra, we found it was well worth it. It is a truly beautiful, well kept hotel full of history and the customer service was excellent. The Peabody is located just 6 blocks from the Civil Rights Museum and is within walking distance to the trolley, great restaurants and the famous Beale St. The only time we used the car was when we visited Graceland and even that was no more than a 10 minute drive away. Highly recommend this hotel and would visit again in a heartbeat.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Peabody rooftop has a great view of the city & the Mississippi. The duck march happens daily at 11am & 5pm. Trolley pass is 3.50/day or $1/ride. Take exact change. The Flying Fish has great seafood dishes. Walk next door to Peabody Place for Starbucks & Maggie Moos. On crowded weekends the police check id & wand for weapons on Beale St. Their Blues City Cafe has great catfish. Memphis Visitor Center has discounted admission tickets to the area museums.

See the ducks

Great old hotel. Rooms are nice, but a little small. March of the ducks is a must see.

Kids will love the hotel ducks. Hotel is next to triple A baseball park. Beale Street is 2 blocks away.

Classic Hotel

Staying at the Peabody hotel as we did from 25th July -3rd August really makes you feel as if you have stepped into the heart of Memphis. The decor, hospitality and vibe is wonderful, and the lobby is always buzzing with all kinds of people. Location wise its a short walk to the best of music ( Beal street) and if you have a car its easy to get everywhere from here. Only minor complaint was on housekeeping .... a few times they cleaned room very late in day; and did not empty the trash or replace the nice toiletries (ie Duck soaps) Plus its a log walk to the self park ($20/day)All in all a great place to stay if you want the best of Memphis and have a decent budget.

Check out the ducks

The Peabody Hotel is filled with old world charm. The Lobby Bar is the best seat in the house to watch the ducks march to and from the indoor fountain. Easy walking distance to many attractions. Would definitely stay there again.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The ducks, Graceland, Rock N Soul Museum, Civil Rights Museum and Beale Street - all close by, some within walking distance

Beautiful Hotel with So/So Service

Hotel is very beautiful. A historical site that shows its’ heritage well and caters very nicely to those seeking more than just a room to stay in. Amenities were plentiful and you could almost just stay on site and having everything you need. But this is Memphis! Night life around the hotel is great with lots of entertainment and sites to see. Short walk gets you to Beale Street and all the Blues and BBQ you heart desires. Now for the bad. It was our anniversary and we spent a long weekend there from Thursday night through Monday morning. On Friday, our room was not cleaned until about 4pm. This was the norm for the rest of the days there and it got as bad as 6:30pm on Sunday. And this was done only after we went down to complain. The gentlemen at the counter called and asked them to expedite the cleaning for us. He then told us it would be about 30 minutes and that we would have to wait. I waited a moment for him to suggest how they would accommodate our time waiting, but he just stood there looking like a deer in headlights. I took the lead and suggested that he arrange for us to have a drink at the bar until the room was ready. And to this he seemed amazed and puzzled that we would even ask such a thing. He did help us, but seemed to be a bit annoyed that he was having to do more than make a phone call. Given the type of hotel that it is, and that fact that they strive to maintain an upscale environment, the staff sure did a poor job of trying to rectifying the problem.

Great stay, can’t wait to go back!

Stayed at the Peabody for my birthday and this is an absolutely beautiful and elegant hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are perfect and the beds are the most comfortable I have ever slept on and I travel a lot. I’m actually planning on calling the hotel to see where I can get those pillows! The ducks are adorable and a must see! Very close to Graceland - main reason for my trip. I loved this place so much that I’m already planning on going back next year.

Make sure to arrive at least half an hour before the duck march. Don’t miss Beale Street, so much fun and awesome food!

A Grand Hotel in a Fine Location

The Peabody Hotel lives up to its grand reputation and history. The lobby is an oasis with its beautiful fountain, and don’t miss the famous Peabody Ducks who march into the lobby at 11 AM and out at 5 PM. You can also visit them on the roof in their duck residence. The room was comfortable, the concierge was super helpful, and the hotel is walking distance to the downtown attractions and restaurants. I highly recommend the minor league ball park right across the street for an evening of fun.

Traveler's tip on dining

Many great restaurants in walking distance -- we found Rendezvous barbecue to be overrated. Try Flying Fish instead.

Peabody - Best thing in Memphis

My husband and I stayed at the Peabody Memphis the weekend of July 10-12, 2009. We were impressed by the grandeur of the hotel, its location, and most certainly the duck parade! Though we were disappointed in Memphis as a vacation destination, we could not have been more happy with the hotel.

Fantastic Getaway

The Peabody was truly a wonderful place to stay for our vacation. Not only was the hotel beautifully maintained, but it was also conveniently located for entertainment. I will have a hard time staying at any other place from now on.

Peabody Memphis

An historic hotel of the South, beautifully restored. Only issue is with the $9.95 per nite fee imposed for wireless, health club, etc. It is not an option but a requirement.

Traveler's tip on dining

In the heart of downtown Memphis with great dining, entertainment, Beale St., etc.

It’s okay

For the price I don’t really think the Peabody offers any extra amenities than other hotels in the area. We were there for the music festival and the hotel refused to allow coolers on the premises. I understand they are trying to make money on drinks. However when you pay hundreds of dollars a night for a room, they should allow you to save $3 per coke, beer, or water. If you want to pay for ducks in the lobby and duck shaped soap then stay at the Peabody. Otherwise nearly any other hotel chain in the area provides a comfortable bed. Which is all we needed, since we spent most of our time at Tom Lee Park and Beale Street. The bed was comfortable. The room was small. Also the walls were thin you could hear conversations in the hallway and the next room.

The Peabody Hotel is ’just ducky’!!

The staff was attentive and informative, the rooms spacious, and the hitsoric hotel filled with memories! The "Peabody Ducks" were entertaining - Be sure to check out where they sleep - up on the roof of the hotel - also a great place to view downtown Memphis and the Mississippi River! A great location in downtown Memphis - close to Beale street - fun for entertainment AND Graceland is not that far of a drive!! I highly recommend this hotel!!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

They did not offer or explain that you can self-park instead of valeting you car... You can save a minimum of $6 each day (and more depending if you tip the valet).

While the ducks are the main attraction, the Peabody is worth a stay for its location and comfort alone.

Oh.... the ducks!

Great old hotel with fantastic ambiance, superior service and marching ducks to boot!! Location in central city is also optimal, close to Beale Street and dining (my favorite the Rendezvous barbecue 1/2 block away). This is the place to be in Memphis without doubt.

Peabody Charm

Staying at the Peabody is worth it for the charm and elegance of the hotel. Waiting thirty minutes to watch the cute little ducks is the biggest non-event I’ve ever experienced, but you gotta see ’em at least once to be able to make a comment like mine.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Dinner in the hotel restaurant is pricey, but the food and wait staff are outstanding. Note: There is a charge for self parking in addition to your room cist, so if you don’t like to walk far, use the valet parking service. It’s not that much more including the tip, and it’s hassle free.

Can’t wait to go back

This hotel was awesome! Very nice! Very clean! Very friendly! I would come back to The Peabody in a heartbeat. If I ever go to Memphis again, I will definitely stay there. The ducks are so cute! Lobby is a little crowded around 11am and 5pm because of the ducks - but that’s ok. They are worth seeing - just once! The mattresses and pillows in this hotel are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Just an all around great hotel !!!!

Traveler's tip on dining

Gumbo is awesome !!!!! Had it many times. Couldn’t get sick of it.

Not sure this Hotel is good value for money

The Peabody is certainly a lovely historic hotel but we found the rooms rather small for the price charged. definatley the bathroom which was tiny.I think you can get better value for money at another local hotel and then visit the Peabody for the Ducks in the afternoon.
