Perfect New York Getaway
As a public high school art teacher from South Florida, my visits to NYC are centered around practically living in art museums, enjoying walks in The Park, and seeing a Broadway show or two. For my most recent trip, locating a quiet, peaceful hotel in a more residential neighborhood was exactly the right decision, and selecting Affinia Gardens was perfect luck! The staff was both extremely friendly and helpful, the facility both sophisticated and welcoming. Upon returning to my over-sized room after a days adventures, I found my room spotless and personalized by a thoughtful staff member who humorously placed my cute leopard pajama bag/airplane carry-on sweetly snoozing on my bed (somewhere different each day). How cool is that? Try this place---you will be most pleased.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The Park, art museums---a short walk among friendly dog walking neighbors. You can (I did) walk to the theatre district for shows, and back after a Metro ride and lunch in Chinatown all the way home up 5th Avenue for shopping and admiring the architecture.

Very pleased exept for billing
I found this hotel to be very comfortable, excellently located and clean. The service was outstanding, except for the billing. My credit card was charged for the rate, even though I had prepaid through Expedia and has required a lot of unnecessary calls and correspondence to clear up.
Traveler's tip on dining
There are numerous restaurants and food outlets in the neighborhood that deliver to the hotel. The rooms have small kitchens with refrigerators, making up for lack of room service.

Almost like home
We wanted a long weekend in NYC, and we wanted the convenience of a kitchenette so that we could have breakfast in the room. Our room had a full refrigerator, toaster, microwave, and gas range as well as dishes, etc., for four. The only thing we lacked was a small table to sit at, but we used the coffee table by the couch. The room was very large.
Traveler's tip
The F train stops just two blocks away. Convenient to uptown and downtown buses. Easy walk to Fifth Ave. Decent restaurants nearby.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN NYC
I picked the Affinia Gardens because I was looking for a quiet place in the city. I had not been back to Manhattan in a number of years. (Lived there as a teenager.) I wanted a place that was quiet and roomy. It was all of that and more -- the room was HUGE with a nice bathroom and small kitchen complete with dishes, silverware, etc! How incredibly comfortable it was, it reminded me of the lovely apartment my father had in the city back in the 80s! We just loved the hotel and anjoyed walking to restaurants and shops and museums from there. The location was great -- there was so much to see and do and then it was great to come back to the Affinia. The kitchen was little but easy, with a full size fridge and stove. One morning, we were able to go out to a fruit stand/small deli and get a few things and make a terrific breakfast in our room, which was tons of fun. We would definitely go back again. Affinia Gardens is not glitzy or loud, but we saw enough of that when we went to a show and enjoyed the sights of Time Square and the rest of the city. We wanted a great place to relax and I was so happy that we stayed at this hotel.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
You can walk up to Central Park and Fifth Avenue easily. There are great little restaurants all along the way. The Stage Deli in Times Square has great sandwiches. Carmines in the theater district is a terrific restaurant for after the show.

Satisfaction
We chose this hotel because of the location. We were upgraded to a suite which was very comfortable. I was impressed with the cleanliness. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. We brought our dog and she was just as comfortable as we were.

Comfort and Convenience
The staff at this hotel are all very friendly and nice. The front desk person gave us an upgrade when I couldnt get the room I requested and the doorman gave us a great recommendation for breakfast. The room was spacious (not typical of New York) and quiet. I loved that it had a kitchen with a full size refrigerator.
Traveler's tip on dining
Right down the street is a great breakfast place that makes the best scones Ive ever had and around the corner is a very quaint french restaurant where the food was delicious and affordable.

First Trip to New York
This was our first trip to New York for my daughter and I. When we checked in, we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite at no additional charge. Everyone at the hotel was great, very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel was great, few blocks east of Central Park and walking distance to many museums. We walked nearly everywhere we went. The neighborhood was quiet and very safe. Very comfortable beds and spacious rooms. We loved it.
Traveler's tip
We were in New York over Columbus Day weekend. Saw two parades. Weather was great, 70s every day.

Large rooms with (almost) an appartment feel to it
The rooms are really big with large comfy beds. We had a good view over a small park at the back of the hotel. Its a quiet area, and the subway are only a cpl of blocks away. If you want to go to central park you will use apprx. 10-15 minutes to get there.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Lexington avenue had some really good diners (for breakfeast), and restaurants for dinners. These was reasonable priced, and all of them was within walking distance

Great neighbourhood feel on Upper East Side
Affinia Gardens Junior Suite met our expectations for size, bed comfort and location on Upper East Side, a great neighbourhood. Newly renovated, kitchenette was only place where age showed. We loved the choice of pillows, comfy king size bed, the layout, but from the pictures expected something more brand new. Overall, a great place to stay in New York.
Weve stayed closer to broadway and Times Square, and this is our 4th NY trip. I would highly recommend a suite hotel with kitchen for families in the Upper East Side: lots of restaurants and cafes, shopping nearby, but less noise, quieter neighbourhood, friendly feel, close to Central park and museums. New York is very kid friendly, and my teens love to come back here.

wish I could go back again
The location was great. Midtown Manhattan, residential, small businesses, not "touristy" at all. We had a corner suite, from which you could see the unique city life of New York. We used the fitness room and self service laundry facility. Room service wasnt necessary with a kitchen and two grocery stores a block away.
Traveler's tip on shopping
There were many local eateries, shops, grocery stores, banks, subway, etc within walking distance. There was even a Bloomingdales 5 blocks away, about the same distance as Central Park. The subway we used was about two blocks away. If you are going to stay 5-7 days and will be traveling by subway, get a 7 day unlimited ride metro card for $25. For $2 a ride one way, it will pay for itself in a hurry.

I Would Stay There Again If and When I Return to NYC
A diamond in the rough. Well... the Upper East Side isnt exactly rough, but the Affinia Gardens is a unsuspecting hotel that offers a great location with easy proximity to the subway and contemporary comforts and styling at a reasonable cost. The Junior Suite was enormous by NY standards. And though a "complimentary Continental Breakfast" would have been appreciated, I was just as satisfied by venturing into the city for breakfast and coffee at a local bistro.

Great place
If theres any think i could make a minor complaint about it would be the elevators. We had a five day stay, and occasionally there was a line at the elevator. Im alright with the stairs, but after a long walking day in NY, you want the elevator.

Quiet and roomy
Loved the quiet neighborhood on the Lower East Side. We had a junior suite with two queen beds which was spacious outright, but especially when compared to other New York hotels. Central Park was just a few blocks away. Although we did not take advantage of the shopping district, Madison Avenue is just a few blocks away. Used the overpriced grocery a block away to stock up and store breakfast and lunch foods. Theater district needed a subway (two blocks away to F, five blocks to 4,5, and 6 lines), or cab, but cab fares were under $10 to get around Manhattan. Will definitely stay there again.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
The roads in Central Park are closed to traffic on the weekends, and make a six mile loop.

boutique hotel with large comfortable rooms and first class service
Although this place doesnt have big hotel chain amenities, like an on-site restaurant or opulent lobby, the rooms are large, very comfortable, modern, and clean. The bed and linens were outstanding. The kitchenette had a real sized stove and fridge. Our first floor room also had a patio that was even larger than the room - complete with a table and chairs - great for eating on a spring or summer day. Service was attentive. The location was only slightly out of the way - and that was actually to my preference. In four short blocks you are at the Central Park Zoo and only two blocks from the subway. Quiet (for NY), sedate luxury at decent prices.
Traveler's tip on dining
Avoid first and second ave for dinner options. better and more reasonably priced meals are found on Lexington. Better still, go to the gourmet garage grocery store and make your own meal and save a lot of money.

Like Living in the apt in Upper East Side
This hotel gives one a feel of what it would be like to live in a small apartment in one of the nicest residential neighborhoods in Manhattan. The suite was spacious for a hotel room, but small if this was the total amount of space allotted to you and your family. The location is great for reasonably priced neighborhood restaurants. Its near the shopping hub of Bloomingdales, museums and Central Park ( if you dont mind walking a bit). The bathroom was small and the services were less than a top flight hotel ( one doorman, small work out facility). The decor is on the order of Crate & Barrel/Ikea modern. Simple and clean but not de luxe. Id return, because I like to imagine that Im a resident in the city and not a visitor and this hotel completes the fantasy.

Loved it!!
We were first time visitors to NYC and would pick this hotel again without any hesitations. Room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and comfortable. Hotel is only a couple of blocks walk to a subway stop, which we used frequently. All staff members were very pleasant and accommodating.

Great location, quiet, and has a kitchen!
We really like the Affinia chain, and have stayed at others in NYC. We recommend all of them. This hotel has a great location, the tea bar was nice to come home to, and having a kitchen allowed us to have a leisurely breakfast and snacks when we needed them without having to eat out all the time. The room size is larger than most other hotels because Affinia hotels are former apartment houses. It was well appointed, and had just installed free Wifi, so I was able to log on easily. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
