Sleepless nights at the Radisson

We were booked for three nights. The room assigned was opposite the elevator. As the World Series was going on that weekend and a rock concert, we were kept awake at night by rowdy people getting off the elevator throughout the night. The room was noisy, the bathroom tiny. We complained but the hotel was not able to give us another room until the third night. They apologized and gave us a very nice room for our last night.

Too much $ for too little.

Rittenhouse Square without even a courtesy bar???? No refridgerator, so leftover dinner from the "Prime Rib" was wasted. Still, prime location for walks at night.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

I’ll stay closer to the river and South Street next time.

Great Location

My boyfriend and I got this hotel as a great Expedia deal, and for the low price we paid, we thought it was fantastic. The location is perfect, you can walk anywhere in the city, the service is great, and the restaurant connected to it is really good.

Traveler's tip on dining

If you’re hungry in the middle of the night, go right across the street to Little Pete’s, an all-night diner with good, cheap food

Perfect Location

I was looking for a hotel close to Liberty Place that was moderately priced. This hotel fit the bill. It was a short, pleasant 5 minute walk. The hotel was beautiful and the service excellent.

Traveler's tip on dining

The bison burger in the restaurant is excellent.

Older hotel

This is an older hotel. The conditions of the rooms aren’t quite up to par with the pictures you see of the hotel lobby which is qite beautiful. The ceiling in the bathroom in our room had a leak from the room above. Looking at the ceiling, I could see that it was previously patched, so this was an ongoing problem which the hotel’s maintenance staff had not properly addressed.

Very Pleasant and Comforting Stay

My 2-night hotel stay at the Radisson was very nice. The hotel room in which I stay was clean and up-scale. I slept very well on the Sleep Number bed (All rooms have these). Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel however does not have its own parking lot and does not have a discount to public parking lots. Therefore overnight parking is very expensive and the only downside of staying at this hotel.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

If you are staying multiple nights, consider taking the bus to Philadelphia to avoid paying high overnight parking costs. Large bus companies have very cheap rates, especially from NY, Boston, D.C., etc.

Very impressive stay

We found the hotel to be top notch. The rooms were very large, clean, and comfortable. We found the staff very helpful and always willing to answer any questions we had including where to dine, places to see, and things to do. If you do stay here I highly recommend visiting the coffee shop for a truely great cup of coffee. Parking was very convenient, but if there was one surprise it was that we were hit with a $30 per night parking charge at checkout. However, the stay was well worth this minor inconvenience.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

If you visit on the weekend make it a point to have a night cap at the bar featuring live entertainment with no cover charge. Follow it up with a cup of coffee at the coffee shop. You will be pleasently surprised.

We would definitely go back!

We enjoyed our stay at the Radisson Plaza very much. I don’t normally sleep well when I’m away from home but with the Sleep Number beds, I slept very well!! The only inconvenience was the bathroom vanity being over 48" tall...I practically needed a ladder to brush my teeth! Other than that, it was a wonderful experience!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

With the visitor information found on the desk in the guest room, we found our way around easily by taxi and walking. We went to a comedy club show we read about in one of the guides. It was alot of fun!

Would stay here again

The hotel is centrally located. The staff were very professional and friendly. Good restaurants and coffee shop. A most enjoyable stay. Only negative for me was that I didn’t like the Sleep Number mattress

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Meals at thr hotel are good. But right across the street is a place called Little Pete’s with very good food at great prices.

Great hotel, we’d stay there again.

This was our first trip to Philly, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect of the neighborhood. We were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in the middle of a terrific part of the city. Lots of shops and restaraunts nearby. We were able to walk to all of the sightseeing that we had planned to do. The hotel itself was very clean. The staff was nothing but helpful and courteous. The room seemed a bit worn, but otherwise was very clean and comfortable. We could have done without the sleep number bed, though. The valet parking was very convenient. $30/night. We would definately stay here again for our next visit.

Awesome hotel in great location!

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the doormen, who whisked our luggage inside, and we were checked in and to our rooms within 5-8 minutes--it was the fastest check-in ever! The lobby is beautiful--and they keep fresh cold water (with orange or mint flavoring) in the lobby for guests--which was really nice since it was quite hot outside! Our room was really nice and the location can’t be beat--right off of Rittenhouse Square. We would stay here again!

Philadelphia trip

An excellent older hotel. I was able to check in a few hours early - a much appreciated benefit after navigating the narrow streets of downtown Philadelphia and not wishing to drive further.

Good Hotel, Bad Upscale Restaurant

The hotel was excellent but the contract restaurant, Prime Rib, was very dissapointing. Toughest piece of beef I’ve ever had but the service was even worse. The waiter was bad. Ten minute wait for a wine list, removal of salad course without asking if we were finished (I wasn’t), etc.

Stay Somewhere Else

For our first time to Philadelphia as a couple, we were very disappointed. We felt that because we had booked through a second party instead of the hotel itself, we were treated to a room that was "of lower value". When we walked into our first room, we found it dirty and very "different" to what the photographs showed. After we had made a note to the front end about our room conditions, we were granted a card for a free drink which was nice and our room was changed. However, the second room was a slight upgrade. The bathroom was a little bigger, however the BIGGEST upset was the "sleep number" bed provided. It was the most UNCOMFORTABLE bed we’ve ever slept in. We would have been better sleeping on the floor than that bed! We asked the concierge downstairs about some local flavor and was treated very cold and told to go to only one option. If you like to be treated second handly, reserve this place. Also, requests for services to our room such as more water couldn’t even be completed. Very sour taste and left immediately at checkout.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

South Street has the nightlife expected for Philly. Market’s not bad either. Older crowds will have a hard time at night because the city is pretty much controlled by us younger generations. If you don’t like to drink and party, get a movie in the room because the nightlife is all about that.

Nice quality hotel for the price

Overall my experience was pleasant and I would stay there again if I would get the same deal. The one thing that I was not happy with was that the bathroom did not have an exhaust fan to get rid of the steam. I had to leave the bathroom door open when taking a shower because of the steam. Then it would make the room feel muggy and more humid which I did not enjoy this feeling and I did have that AC on the whole time.

Very pleasant stay

We stayed 2 nights there and found us very central and good located. We only could affort it because the first night was for free. Rooms were comfortable and clean, only the bathroom was pretty small, 2 persons could hardly be in there at the same time. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even when we needed our car from the garage at 2am because we left sth in the car. But the parking with 30$ is not the cheapest of the car parks we found in town.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

There are a lot of nice cafes, pubs and bars around the corner. On the other side of the street is a small 24h diner, which is nice and very well priced.

Nice location...So-So Hotel...

Good location for partaking in all that downtown Philly has to offer. Beware of the parking at the hotel and surrounding lots. Extremely pricey: $38 overnight. There is a garage across 17th street that offers valet parking for $27 overnight. Still a rip-off but better than anywhere else in close proximity. Hotel room service was very quick and decent food. Very expensive as room service always is. The desserts sucked. Chocolate brownie was dry, cold, rubbery and 8 bucks. But hey, it’s a hotel, not a 4-star restaurant. Hotel is a bit run-down and the maid service was lousy. They didn’t leave us any clean towels and left trash in the trash cans. Must be union maids. Probably making $20 an hour to not clean the rooms. Welcome to the Northeast...The place is OKAY, but I’m sure better places can be found for the money...Location is the best thing about it.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Park in the parking garage across the street from the hotel and save $11 bucks or prepare to get hosed for $38 to park in the hotel garage.

Nice Hotel

Great Location.Professional Staff. Expensive Parking inside the Hotel Property. Better parking garage rates in vicinity of hotel. Check-in first...then take a short drive within 5 block radius and you will see better options.

Hotel room photos misleading

This is a historical building. When you walk into the lobby, it is beautiful. The staff is friendly. There is a casual, comfortable restaurant/bar off the lobby and the food is very good. The disappointing thing was the room. We felt as though we should have paid half price because we got a "half" room. It was so small and the configuration of the bathroom was ridiculous. The sink was so high that you had to literally lay across it to brush your teeth. You barely had space to sit down on the toilet. The thing that is most frustrating is when you book a "King bed" room, you base that information upon the photos online because that’s all you have as far as a description of the place. This room was definitely NOT the room pictured. I did ask the front staff if all the rooms were like ours. And they said "yes, this hotel is very chopped up because it is old"!(So, no help there)! The location of this hotel is great....so much to do right in Philadelphia center city! But next time, we won’t stay here.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Local attractions--dining, events, shopping, museums, city accessibility to all...GREAT!!

great base of operations to explore the city

We got a great rate on 1-day’s notice on expedia due to changes in our plans. Our room was very good though there was an initial problem with a loud air conditioner. The engineering staff handled it easily and quickly and with good cheer. The location is perfect for walking around Philly. Staff was helpful and accessible.

Good but could have been Better

I went on a very last minute trip with two female friends of mine and when we arrived, we felt like we had made the perfect choice, until we saw our miniature KING sized bed. We figured, One night, Three girls, We can sleep great in a King size. But when we showed up it more like an oversize Full Bed. Nothing like it was advertised on the site. But other than the uncomfortable sleep and false advertisement, The Radisson showed us a Good time. Just really wish it would have been, GREAT.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Just enjoy yourself, Don’t expect too much, and live it up. Also, indulge in the surroundings. It felt like being in the Middle of my Hometown, Times Square, New York.
