Good, not great

The hotel was kind of basic, but good and clean.

I give this hotel 90%

The only problems I had with this hotel was it was a bit cramped in the room and the balcony. The outlets were located on the dresser rather than the wall, and it is still called Resort Quest on the outside. If your looking for Aston, you won’t find it by car. Otherwise, this hotel was great. Waikiki beach across the street. Plenty of shops and retaurants nearby. Free breakfast at the hotel. What more could you want?

Will definitely stay here again.

From check in to check out the staff at this hotel was very friendly. The valet parking seemed to be a bit high at first but its better than finding a parking spot and walking. We always called ahead for the car and only had to wait one time. Quick and friendly. The breakfast was decent, good for the price. It saved us a lot of money over the course of the week. The ocean front rooms are awesome and definitely worth the extra money. I did a lot of research before booking our trip. This hotel was perfect for our trip. We will be staying here again.

Wont mind to go back to this hotel.

We had a great vacation , easy when you are in the most popular beach in the world , the hotel is near everything, i wish they had more tables and chairs for the breakfast you have to go really early or you have to get everything and eat in your room. breakfast between 6:30am and 8:30 to early when you are in vacation....the breakfast should be until at least 9:30 am. Get a room with a partial ocean view at least, the view is spectacular .

Dont book tours at the hotel its more expensive

This is not the hotel where you want to return.

Well what to say about this hotel. I do not think anyone wants to go back there again. Inhospitable staff. Dirty walls and ceilings in the rooms. A bad smell from towels. And the worst thing is the breakfast. It’s just a mockery. I was sorry spent.

Great Location

The location of the Aston Waikiki Beach hotel was great. Good access to the beach and yet at the end of Waikiki Beach within easy walking distance to Diamondhead and a large park. Shopping access good. Hotel was clean and comfortable. "Free" breakfast was just o.k. Had an ocean facing room so view was excellant.

nice but not fancy

This was our second year staying here, and we weren’t as impressed as we were the first time. They had installed a new elevator system with key card entry only and it was not as efficient as it was supposed to be. On Sat/Sun morn when there were a ton of people downstairs waiting to get upstairs, the people upstairs couldn’t get down (the key panel kept saying invalid entry, please try again.) Our only other option was to take 24 flights of stairs...so we waited. It felt like we got less view for our money this time as well. I don’t know if we had specified exactly what we wanted if we would have gotten it, we didn’t think we would have to so we didn’t. My advice, specify exactly what you want in the comment section of the selection when you book through Expedia (we wanted a view of the strip of Waikiki, we got two ocean views)

Polynesian Cultural Center wasn’t that great - the nightly show (Breath of Life) was awesome but the buffet dinner Luau wasn’t worth the $90 on tickets. We did go back for the Haunted Lagoon Ride which was really awesome and very much worth it if you’re in town around Halloween and like to be frightened (but get there early to get your tickets or you will be stuck in a line with tons of teenagers!)

Not impressed

We were appalled at the homeless people sleeping everywhere we walked. The breakfast on the beach idea meant standing in a long line just to get fruit. The toilet was so low to the floor it was difficult to use. For what we paid for our 3 nights, I wish we had stayed in a 5 star. Not going back to Waikiki again

Stayed here on 2 occasions. Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel once in 2007 and again this year 2009. My stays have been thoroughly enjoyable. It is at a great location furthest south of the hotel zone adjacent to the beach. This makes it a little less busy with people walking up and down K avenue. The rooms are tastefully decorated with a hip red hawaiian vibe. The ocean view was amazing and the breakfast that you can take away is a nice touch. The music and hula dancing by a former Miss Hawaii was delightful in the morning. I recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Waikiki. I will stay again.

Beds very comfortable

It was great except no coffee in the rooms or lobby. You have to wait until a store close by opens. The elevators were operated by your room key and would get jammed when their were alot of people wanting to use them. Sometimes we would wait 30 minutes to get an elevator to our room. The rooms were clean and quite once you got their. The beach was very nice and easy access.

Pearl Harbor is a must see.

Good for Budget Conscious, Families, and Place to Crash Only People

The first disappointment was being told as we checked in that the king sized bed we requested months ago was not available. They upgraded us to a higher floor with a better "view", but I must say, we would’ve rather taken a king bed with no view over a double bed with a limited view of the beach and dumpsters/service area below. Our overall experience was fine/par. It was nothing special, but it was clean and the staff was nice enough. The elevators in the lobby are poorly located and led to many traffic jams at all hours of the day. This is a pretty big hotel with a bunch of restaurants and shops at the main level. The pool was small, but the beach is across the street. Skip the breakfast they offer for a fee. It’s a rip off and looked horrible. I would recommend this place if you want a standard tourist experience with a Starbuck’s, Wolfgang Puck, Subway, etc. conveniently located downstairs. If you prefer a bigger bed, something a little more genuine or low key, or want to spend any time in your room, try somewhere else.

If you like treasure hunting and want to get off the Waikiki strip, there are some really great thrift stores and consignment stores nearby. We love to go to the Goodwill (tons of Hawaiian shirts), Patty’s Picks for curio, Bailey’s Antiques and Aloha Shirts (mostly pricey antiques & collectibles, but fun just to look around), and Clothes Chick (women’s consignment). Most of these are walkable destinations, or you can hop on the bus, which is a great way to get around the island. There are a ton of other stores like this. Do some homework or ask around when you get there. It’ll be well worth the trouble!

Not Impressed !

Last stayed in 2005, was much better. Manager and staff is bad now (Don’t care), was great in 2005. Bell service only done when VIP’s arrive! Parked car one night and charged for three nights. New breakfast sucks! Fruit and cake and must pay for waffles. What happened to Resort Quest? Was then a great hotel.

Great Waikiki location for 1st time visitors!

This hotel was literally accross the street from the beach and around the corner from the Zoo and Aquarium. Shopping and dinning were also within walking distance. Elevators are slow but only because of the extreme care in security (I guess this is a good thing if you can be a little patiente). Overall I was satisfied! I recommed this hotel to my friends anytime...Pricing was reasonable too for the location!

Very satisfired with our stay

The hotel is not five star but for the price you pay, its very worth it. I would pay the extra money for an ocean front room. We stayed in room 1729 which is on the corner, so we had a beautiful view of the ocean and diamond head. We never had a problem with hearing the tiki bar. Our room was clean and had a comfortable bed. The elevators can be slow, just during breakfast so I really don’t see a reason to get upset over them. Good location. We could see the entire strip from our room. I would stay here again, especially if you want to stay in a decent place thats cheaper and have spending money for activities and eating at good restaurants

Traveler's tip on dining

The tiki bar had a great happy hour. The bar always has a good crowed at night, and the live music is good as well. If you like sushi, eat next door at Sansei located in the Marriot. Also Yardhouse is a fun place to go for drinks.

Great Hotel

Really great hotel in every way; rooms, service, desk, location, breakfast. Second time I’ve stayed at this hotel and look forward to returning and staying at this Aston/ResortQuest in the future. Location could not be better; across street from Waikiki, within easy walking of International MarketPlace and many other shops, zoo and aquarium nearby.

Okay for a few days

Cons: The hotels is an older hotel and the rooms look like it. The bathroom definitely needs a makeover. If you get a room @ the end be prepared to hear the wind blowing through your room the entire time. The door to the room when closed still feels like it’s open. The lifts are redone in order to keep non-guest out (for security reaons), which in theory is a great concept. You need your room key in order to call for the elevator, but in reality it slows down the flow of traffice quite a bit. During breakfast time it can take up to 15 minutes before you can get a elevator. The free breakfast was equivalent to dorm food; bad. Pros: The location of the hotel is FANTASTIC. From the hotel it’s less then 1 minute walk to the beach. All you have to do is cross the street. The hotel is at the end of the strip & next to a park. The hotel has it’s own restaurant that has live performance almost every night. It’s nice to come back from a day out to relax on the lanai, have a drink and listen to music. The staff seem very nice, but we also didn’t needed much. If you are planning to be out of your hotel or want quick access to the beach most of the time then this place would be perfect. Just don’t pay for the free breakfast. Save your money and go to subway (downstairs from the hotel) for breakfast instead.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are tons and I mean TONS of restaurants on the strip. We expect to pay an arm and a leg, but it turns out to be pretty reasonable. I would say just start walking down the strip around 6pm or so and you can pick and choose. The buffet at the Pacific Hotel is definitely worth a visit if you are into seafood. The price is roughly $35/pp all you can eat.

Great place to stay for the money!

The Aston is right across the street from the beach, which makes it extremely convenient. Overall, the place is clean and pretty quiet. Our room was very clean. The pillows are terrible though, not comfortable for sleeping on. However, considering the great location, clean rooms, etc you really cant go wrong staying here. Its a cheap and pretty nice place to stay. Why spend big bucks $$ if you only use the room to sleep anyways? One drawback - the elevators! The system is really bad. You have a security card that you swipe every single time you go up or down. The monitor tells you what elevator to take. Sometimes 5 min wait to go up or down!

Traveler's tip on shopping

Cant beat the shopping and very low tax!

Great choice for price & location

For a super saver package. Room was clean and quiet considering on 6th flr by elevators, with nice view. Was happy about beach chairs and towel check out for beach use. Food shops and ABC stores close by,buses and trolleys right there.Elevators are slow in mornings everyone going for breakfast by pool,we took stairs, only 2 floors.I can see many getting upset about elevators but hey for price and location you can’t complain too much.We had a great time at this hotel and will go back.

Traveler's tip on dining

the food court at Int. Market place was great for cheap food that was good & the Blue Water Shrimp and Fish Stand there is a outstanding value and good food.

We came to Waikiki to get married and stay for our honeymoon. This hotel was very nice,, I would give it an over all 4-its true the elevators suck.. they are very slow and we got stuck once... Other than that it was great- some of the staff was not too friendly--- but overall everyone was so nice and pleasant. I would stay here again.. the views where Amazing!
