Great Service

The hotel was clean, which was important to me, particularly the carpet as I had a not-quite-walking toddler. It was also within nice stroller-walking distance of Central Park, the shopping district as well as Times Square. The kitchenette was also important with the baby, so that worked quite well. No complaints, as the staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful at all times too from the room-cleaner to the doormen. I would stay there again, though I might up-grade from the Studio Room to a 1 room apt next time.

nice hotel

Nice hotel. Went with another couple who were celebrating an anniversary. the hotel knew this and upgraded their room and was also suppose to give them something in the room, which they never received. The bar in the hotel was nice, but small. It also shut at midnight on a Saturday in December, I guess they didn’t need the business! Very small lobby, but had complimentary hot cider on Sat. afternoon. Nice ammenities in the bathroom! The doorman was excellent with our car and bags.

A Great Experience.....as always

A quaint boutique hotel where everyone goes out of their way to make sure you feel important and well served. The two room suites are our favorite accomodations in NYC.

When staying at The Benjamin and you want great food and service within a couple minutes walk, try Four Season’s Restaurant on 52nd for elegance and continental, Ristorante DeGrezia on 50th for superb Italian and unbelievable staff, Patroon on 46th for fabulous high end steak house fare, and Mr. K’s on 51st for the prix-fixe "white-glove" service lunch featuring extremely high quality Chinese.

Wonderful accommodation

Stayed here for a few days business and a few days vacation. Could not have been more impressed. One of the elevators was not working, and we were upgraded in our room, and put on a lower floor so we could use the stairs. The room was very clean, and it was great to have a kitchenette--with a full size fridge! The staff were very helpful and friendly. A terrific stay altogether.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

There is a grocery store down the way called the Amish Market where you can pick up all that you need, including prepared foods. Great way to save on some dining out and use the dollars for other things.

It does not offer free use of Internet, old furniture, and not confortable bed-sofa. Good service of Concierge.

Lovely boutique hotel

From check in to check out service was great. Unfortunately lots of scaffolding on the street front but our room faced the rear of the hotel so the construction noise was no bother. Would be nice if wifi was included in the room rate, it seems an unnecessary extra but the concierge services were great and starbucks is close by. Great breakfast spot just to the left of the main entrance as well as at the Doubletree. Our room was clean and relatively spacious but the bathroom could use a little updating and there was a large stain on the carpet. All in all a great stay and problem free hotel! Take advantage of the pillow concierge!

Did a tour of the East Village with the East Village Historical Society. . .Gangsters, Murders and Wierdos . . .by donation, one of the best city tours I have been on! Eric our tour guide has written a book of the same name and is working with the history channel; he recommends calling museums or historical societies to find city tours - these people are passionate about their topics - he certainly was! Highly recommended!

Everything was great but the sleeper sofa

The Benjamin Hotel was a delight. The restaurant was convenient with tasty food, the suite was fitted beautifully with lovely linens and coffees etc., the housekeepers were friendly and considerate. The only complaint was the quality of the sleeper sofa which was not a pleasant experience and needs some work!!

Excellent Hotel

Hotel service was excellent; location was perfect, close to many major attractions as well as several subway stations for easy access to other areas of Manhattan. Would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel and high end rooms.

The room was as big as 2 normal Manhattan rooms combined wig a nice bed and flat panel tv. My only complaint about the room was that the desk chair was a bit broken so it couldn’t lock in the upright position. I had to lean against the wall to prevent from tilting all the way back. My only other complaint was in regards to the fitness center, it felt like a re-purposed room and the only newer equipment were the treadmills. The weights consisted of one rack of dumbbells and then 50% of the necessary "Life Fitness" machines, all of which appeared more than 25 years old. Definitely a let down considering how nice of a hotel this is.

Great location, great staff

We had a very good experience at The Benjamin in all respects. We will certainly stay there on our next trip to the Big Apple. Would recommend to anyone.

Very nice stay

Lovely hotel located conveniently in midtown. Love the selection of pillows (a hotel specialty) Only complaint is that the elevators were slow...to be expected in one of these older hotels.

Great stay!

The Benjamin staff was very helpful in every way! The rooms are large and the bed was VERY comfortable. I even ordered roll-away beds for my kids and they enjoyed those beds. The roll-aways were not the traditional fold up beds...My kids said they were very confortable.

There are several nice "mom and pop" restaurants within a block or two of the hotel that offered very good and very inexpensive breakfasts or late dinners.

Impressed except.....

I enjoyed my stay at the Benjamin, I would let others know it was a good hotel to book just don’t forget anything there. I left a long sleeve shirt of significant value in the cupboard and when contacting the hotel the following day to retrieve it they were not able to return it to me unfortunately.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of the city

Spent a night at the Benjamin with my pre-teen daughter for a fun-filled trip to the city. Great location for walking to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and Broadway sights. The room and bathroom were much bigger than we had expected for an NYC hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was very comfortable and clean. Would definitely go back there again!

Lives up to good ratings

A small hotel conveniently situated in mid-town. Easy walking to many points of interest, plus metro stop for Line 6 a block away. Nicely appointed room. Bed is really comfortable. A/C worked well. Good views from upper floors. Suites have a sofabed, which is good for traveling with small children. Also, the kitchenette is a real plus. Would definitely consider using this hotel again on a return trip. High ratings posted on Expedia proved justified.

If you are lucky enough to spot it, check out the Dessert Truck. Gourmet desserts (e.g., warm molten dark chocolate cake, goat cheesecake, lavender peach sorbet) prepared on the spot for $6. Google their website for current truck location.

Fabulous!

We loved our stay at The Benjamin hotel in NYC! This was like a second honeymoon. The bellmen at the door, front desk staff, concierge and housekeepers were all wonderfully responsive. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone desiring a luxurious getaway.

For a good price on a Broadway show ticket, call the theatre directly and ask for the least expensive seats. You’ll still enjoy the show at a discounted price.

A peaceful retreat in the middle of Manhattan

Hotel was quiet, we could not hear other guests. The ventilation system was quiet and responsive. I spend alot of time in hotels and this a high priority to me. This stay took place in July and we were very comfortable. Loved having the kitchenette if only for tea&coffee in the a.m. and cold bottled water.

Luxury

This beautiful hotel is caddy corner from the Waldorf Astoria. They gave me a suite even thought I had purchased a discounted basic room through Expedia. Everything was as you would want it to be.

A Find in Midtown

My wife and I chose the Benjamin based on other Expedia reviews. We understand how it received so many 5 ratings. Staff was very helpful and genuinely pleasant. Room was thoughtfully laid out and did not have a "banged about" look. Everything works. Would definitely use for a business trip. Location is very convenient.

Excellent Hotel Choice

We were completely impressed with the Benjamin Hotel. It was our first time staying there and had not heard of it before we found it via Expedia online. It’s an elegant hotel in a great mid-town location. The staff was very professional and helpful and the price was quite reasonable when compared to other NYC hotels. Highly recommend it!

Well located hotel; room was very nice and bed extremely comfortable

I’ve stayed at the Benjamin before, about 8 years ago, and when we checked in for this visit, we were made to feel at home. An air conditioning problem in the room was fixed without delay. The bed was so comfortable my wife wanted to take it home with her. Only issue: the hotel is around the corner from a fire station and one is likely to hear sirens at any time of the day.

Good place, great location

we had great time, walked everywhere in the city. Can’t beat the location.
