Fantastic stay! Would definitely stay again
We had a fantastic stay at the Iroquois! The staff was extra friendly and very helpful in making restaurant recommendations, writing out directions, etc. The location cant be beat since its a quick walk to the subway and to Times Square. Our room was really quiet and the turn down service and chocolate was a nice touch.

A Sheer Delight
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary in NYC and the Iroquois really exceeded our expectations. We will stay at the Iroquois on every return trip. The Mid-town location is convenient to everything. The hotel is intimate and chocked full of amenities. The room is good size for NYC with a nice bath, robes, free wireless, a collection of DVDs, NY Times newspaper every day with access to the WSJ and US Today in a wonderful little library off the lobby. There is a cheap place to eat just down 44th street called the Red Flame. There was great coffee in the lobby in the morning and hot cider in the evening. The bed was really comfortable and a great night sleep with no noise from the city that never sleeps! The staff are super friendly and helpful in every way. I have been looking for a nice place to stay without breaking the bank and this is it. You cant do wrong when the place is one of the best small hotels in the world.

Next time we are in New York, this is where we will stay!
Hotel was in a very convenient place. Close to Times Square, 6th Ave and 5th Ave Shopping. Close walk to Central Park and a close walk to the subway to go to the Financial District. The lobby was extremenly nice. Rooms were a bit small, but you can expect anything drifferent from NY. Unless...you want to pay the money for a larger room. We found the queen bed and room was sufficent for what we needed it for, SLEEP! Other than that, I could not hear anything from any other rooms or much if any noise from outside. Definitely a place to stay!

great service but mattress need help
Location was great. Service was excellent, especially the concierge who recommended great restaurants and was helpful about show info. Front desk was friendly and pleasant. Room was very snug but clean; the mattress was past its prime.

LOVE this hotel!
My friend and I planned a pre-Christmas "girls weekend" in New York with exciting play and restaurant reservations -- the only thing we werent sure of was the hotel. But we need not have worried! The Iroquois was wonderful! The Reception Desk and Concierge were both friendly and helpful, and we loved coming in from the cold and grabbing a nice (free) expresso or settling into the little paneled library just off the lobby. Our room was a little small, but the renovated elegant bathroom more than made up for it. Fantastic beds and linens -- we would both go back tomorrow!

James Dean Slept Here
The Iroquois is where a young James Dean lived circa 1951-1953. I think the building was an apartment then. In any case, there is now an 8th floor suite where his apartment was, and I suspect it is pretty popular (I didnt see it). This is also the hotel where Joe Strummer of The Clash stayed during that bands monumental 17-night residence at Bonds Casino in Times Square. Joe wrote the lyrics to "Rock the Casbah" at the Iroquois. Its a great location, friendly staff, decent prices (every room in New York seems a little small for the price, but thats New York). As noted in my check-in comments, elevators are small and slow, but some of us find that charming. Its just a few blocks from the NY Public Library, Times Square, theatres - cant beat the location.

THE BEST KEPT SECRET!
After reading all the reviews I still was not sure if it was as wonderful as everyone was saying.....IT WAS ALL TRUE!!! Very quaint hotel, very high in customer service, very clean, beds were exceptional...I cant say enough! We are very picky with hotels but this one was FANTASTIC!
If you are going as a tourist, save money by walking (bring good walking shoes or sneakers) and pay for the double decker bus. It makes frequent stops and it will get you where you need to go while showing you the sights!

Our favorite
We stay at the Iroquois every time we are in NY. We love the boutique atmosphere so much better than a large, noisy chain. The attention to detail and the wonderful service are perfect. The staff is very friendly and very attentive to all our needs, yet somehow invisible. We love the neighborhood - so close to theatre and shopping. The rooms are extremely comfortable and well appointed.

Super Location for Broadway Theater/Super Comfortable Rooms
This was my second time staying at the Iroquois and it did not disappoint. Everyone at the hotel was extremely pleasant and helpful. The room (we booked one with two double beds) was really quiet and the beds comfortable. We even got tasty Belgian chocolate and turndown service as part of the regular service. I had requested a room away from the elevators on a low floor (my friend doesnt like elevator rides). We arrived early, around noon, and the man at the front desk gave us a choice of taking an available room on the 8th floor or waiting for a while to get a room on the 4th floor. Since we had to get to a 2:00 matinee and my friend thought she could handle the 8th floor we took the available room. I will continue to stay t the Iroquois whenever I get the chance. Its wonderful!
Traveler's tip
Another great thing about the Iroquois, if you drive to NYC like we usually do, the Hippodrome parking garage is directly across the street. With hotel validation, its $35 for 24 hours. Not bad for this city.

Perfect Location
and great service. The concierge, Nick, was a great and forthcoming representative. Our room was great and there is a nice little "library" in the front of the hotel with two complementary internet connections. Really a perfect choice for a fun vacation in NYC

Pleasantly Surprised
I wasnt sure what to expect (considering the great rates), but this hotel is located in a great area (central to everything), the rooms are beautiful, and most importantly, the staff was absolutely wonderful. Everyone was so helpful and and professional. I would recommend The Iroquois to anyone, and will stay there on my next trip to NY.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
With the great location of the hotel, you can go uptown, downtown or stay in the neighborhood and have a great time. Take full advantage of the subways located just a few blocks away.

So Amazing
Beautiful, clean, luxurious, friendly and in the heart of Manhattan. What more could you want? The price was absolutely reasonable for all of this. Go to this hotel and get away from everything. The rooms were quiet and private with plenty of space. I loved it!

Not worth 4-stars
Our stay at the Iroquois was meh... just ok. I was expecting a lot more given the hotels 4.5 star rating. Pros: We arrived at 6am and a very friendly front desk representative was able to chek us in immediately. We were very pleasantly surprised that we were accomodated with such an early check-in time. The concierge (I think his name was Mark) was also very helpful, providing us with great recommendations. He even arranged reservations for us at local restaurants and shows. Having a knowledgeable concierge willing to do the "footwork" for us was extremely helpful and convenient. Cons: The condition of our room left something to be desired. The bed and linens were wonderful, but thats about as far as it goes. The carpeting was extremely dingy (read: leaves your feet dirty if you walk on it barefoot). Several lamps in our room were inoperable. The most annoying thing though is that all the power outlets were so old that it wouldnt securely hold anything you plug into them. Having to replug the hairdryer/computer/cell phone/curling iron every 30 seconds because the plug keeps falling out of the socket has a way of testing your patience -- extremely frustrating. And it wasnt just one socket that did this. It was EVERY socket in the room and bathroom. In a nutshell: The hotel staff were great. The hotel itself needs maintenance.

Great small hotel!
The Iroquois is a wonderful small hotel with top notch service. While the rooms are small, they have everything you need, the bed is comfortable and the central location (near the theater district and 5th Ave.)could not be better.

Reserve the Iroquois if Broadway Bound!
Lovely little quiet hotel in short walking distance of Times Square. Hotel staff without exception was friendly, helpful, and courteous. Rooms nicely appointed. Beds were very comfortable. Nice amenities like turn down service, free computer and DVD loan, and morning coffee in the lobby. Definitely returning to this gem!

Excellent choice
Our first time to the Big Apple and we couldnt have selected a better place to stay. The Iroquois is located in a quiet section two blocks from Times Square. The hotel is conveniently located to provide easy access to all of the tourist sights yet you dont feel like youre in the hustle and bustle of the big city. There is a cozy diner just down the street that offered very affordable breakfasts.
