Ok stay if you’re not planning on staying in the room long..

I have stayed at this hotel several times, and it has always been a favorite for me and my family, which is why I keep coming back. I love the proximity to the beach, and the staff were very nice. However, the hotel was set for tear down and remodel (which has since been pushed back to 12/2010)and therefore the hotel itself isn’t in great shape cosmetically. The room smelled like an old fride, no air conditioning and just didn’t look appealing. It was suffient for us to sleep in, considering we spent most of our day out and about. Can’t wait to see it when its finished!

Very disappointed

We were very disappointed with this hotel. The first room we were given had a moldy musty smell. The bathroom had mold around the bathtub and the window blind covering a clear window was broken. We also found that the TV was broken and when we reported this, they offered us another room. This room was right next door and although it was a little better, it was still not up to an acceptable standard and poorly maintained. There was a big hole in the bathroom door and to top it all, the bed sheets felt damp. We considered asking for yet again another room but seeing as we had already had two bad rooms, there probably would not be any point. In addition, we were so tired that we decided to make the best of it.

Over all

Over all the hotel was pretty nice to stay in. I enjoyed the room and my stay there. I loved the fact that it was right on the beach. I had stayed there before many yrs ago so that why i new to go back to that one. I had a great time staying there thank you.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

Not to much to do around the hotel pretty boaring. But other than that pretty nice.. Your right by the beach what more can you ask.

Don’t GO!

I paid more to have an "ocean view-kitchen suite" when I got there I was put in a standard room. I had to take it up with the front desk and when I did--she said that that the room i reservered was already taken. How that happens--i’m not sure. The room I ended up with was not the room I reserved!

Four star location for one star hotel

This hotel is in an idealistic location, with sliding door opening to a deck right on the beach. That said, the room was in pretty bad shape. Broken locks, rusty fridge, non-functional TV remote, and questionable stains on the bed sheets. I was traveling alone, so I made the best of it, but my wife would have never set foot in the place. They really need to level this hotel and build something new.

Traveler's tip on dining

Marisas Mexican Seafood Grill on Palm had some delicious crab and shrimp enchiladas with a nice cream sauce. Their guacamole was also excellent.

Great Beachfront Hotel

Barebones hotel with the best location. No doubt about it, we love this hotel. It’s too bad it will not be around after Feb.2009. Hope what takes its place will be worth it. We had a great stay. The room was bare of dishes and essential cooking utensils but the lady who checked us in was nice enough to go get things for us from other rooms. We had a room on the bottom floor and could walk right out of the room and be in the water. Enjoyed every minute. The best clam chowder we found was just across the street at the Wave Cafe. Loved all the friendly people at the hotel and wish we could return before it’s gone.

A Classic, Relaxation Headquarters

A fine classic, clean & well maintained Hotel on the beach with a heated pool and LARGE rooms with fine beds and suites that backup right to the Pacific ocean. Plenty of FREE parking. Refegeratior in room. Best Deck for watching surfers&sunsets in California with propane BBQ’s too! If you want to stay close to the excitement of San Diego yet be able escape to an uncrowded quiet location on the beach the Seacoast Inn is the Relaxation Headquarters and Imperial Beach is Classic Southern California, home of the world famous surfhenge! although the hotel was built in the 1960’s style it has weathered the years nicely and is still loveingly cared for, but it is slated for destruction early 2009 so experience the Classic Seacoast inn while you still can, it will be missed as it is the last few of the oceanfront hotels left so dont waste your time on "the Hotel Circle inn chains" in town as I have so many times as this independent inn is just fine and on the beach! just wish I could stay here again, as the most relaxing week of my life was spent here nov 11-18 2008 and I am sure many others have also, nothing fancy but just fine clean beachfront living with friendly staff in a safe quiet location

Traveler's tip on dining

Tin Fish @ end of IB pier, also Oasis Ice Cream (BestOfSanDiego’09winner) is in the Albertsons shopping center for the COOL "Old Fashioned" homemade treats are indeed a tasty treasure & 5$ pizza nextdoor is good! Breakfast is great at the Wave Cafe across the street the "to-go" is nice for sunrise on the pier or beach. Silverstrand State Park just north is hot, just 13 mi to coronado

Not Impressed

The view is the only positive. No coffee pots in rooms, like stated in description, only at lobby that doesn’t open until 8 am. Hotel is old which is probably why rooms can get clean or look clean, maintenance of walls & ceiling needed drastically. If not going to spend a lot of time in room - would be great.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Was right on Imperial Beach with a park right next door for kids.

Wonderful view, horrible room

The view was amazing, the hotel is right on the beach. Our room was so bad, the ceiling was leaking, the bed was lumpy, and the carpet was old and filthy. If you don’t care about the room, and just want to see the beach, then stay here.

great location

The hotel itself is nothing fancy, but its location can’t be beat! It is literally on the beach! Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. Hotel staff was very friendly.

Dog Kennel

This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever been too. There was nothing more dirtier than this hotel not even the rest stops on the highway to get there. There was semen on the window, rust everywhere, dirtier than anything, there wasn’t even an outlet in the bathroom to plug in the hair dryer. I had to dry my hair in the kitchen. The bed was very uncomfortable and something was biting us all night. The only thing this hotel lacked was the roaches.

Will return

Only one on beach so will return because of that. Hear hotel is being torn down and rebuilt after this year, hopefully the rates won’t be so high we cannot return. Love the surrounding area and eateries, all withing very quick walking distance, park, pier, etc.

Nice place to stay.

Hotel was right on the beach. The room was always clean. The hotel staff was very friendly. No wifi excess, but there is a internet cafe just down the street. Hotel was older, but comfortable. Only one very small tv in the room. Some peeling paint, and rust.

Very Disappointing

Poor maintenance, run down rooms, very uncomfortable. Smelled bad, and the shower was plugged. Totally not worth the money, even with the ocean view. We stayed out in San Diego late so we would be so tired when we came back we wouldn’t have to look at it. Way overpriced for what it was. Felt like we were in a dumpy Tijuana motel.

It wasn’t bad

It could use some paint, but for a family on a budget it was right on the beach and that was the best part. We would go back again!

Not impressed, but great location

The only thing this motel has going for it is its location. At high tide, you can walk about 5 steps from the back deck to the water. The plumbing in my room was horrible. If you plan to be on the beach the majority of your stay, this is a perfect place for you.

SUMMER VACATION

While booking this hotel, we had very low expectations, based on the reviews. Upon arriving, we discovered that our "ocean view" was actually our sliding door opening up directly to the beach, w/ an amazing view of the pier. Our room was not fancy, but was clean and the staff was very courteous and accomodating. The pool & hot tub were very relaxing. There is a park, w/ basketball courts and play area right next door. Our family loved it, we will go back.

If you get up really early, you can collect the best seashells and sand dollars, so bring buckets.

Amazing view

Our family stayed at the Seacoast Inn for 4 days and had very few complaints. The staff was very kind and helpful. The view was breath taking and the beds were pretty darn comfortable. Considering the age of this hotel, the biggest thing that could have been improved was the dishes, silverware and pans in our room. Saying that...our stay was everything we had expected. The king size bed in the den was the best surprise...kids had their own room and so did mom and dad..woohoo. Falling asleep to the waves crashing on the beach...couldn’t beat that!!! When we do revisit..later this summer I will make sure to request a ground floor room so I have beach access at all times.

my kids really enjoyed the beach as well as the pool. They had a great time building sand castles and watching the surfers. Plenty of local places to eat in walking and very reasonable.

Our beach vacation

This is an old hotel. The front looked like it had been recently done, but the back that faced the ocean looked a little weather-beaten. Inside there were numorous little cosmetic things, such as broken kitchen tiles, rusty fridges, broken coffee maker (it worked for hot water--they didn’t furnish coffee or filters), some paint touch-ups were in need of attention. All this we overlooked for the amazing veiw of the ocean 20 steps out our patio door.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Down the street from the hotel is a cute seashell shop, a couple of gift shops, and an ice cream parlor- all reasonably priced. If you want to eat out, there are several locations across or next to the hotel we found to be very delicious. Grocery stores and bait shops are also nearby, and you can dine in a fish shop at the end of the pier, or rent a fishing pole and catch your own dinner.

It was ok

The hotel is ok for a couple of days. The fact that there was no A.C., and that the shower was increbily small, the comfort was minimal. The good thing is, that bthe hotel was right off the beach.

Like vacationing out of a gas station restroom!

We had a kitchen suite, with an ocean view. The walls, doors, and floors were filthy and grimy. Extremely dirty! It was a very uncomfortable stay. It was cheap, had a nice beach, kids enjoyed the pool, but not worth it. I am very economically minded, but I would have rather spent more money and had decent accomodations.

perfect for couples. Very comfortable and clean. staff is friendly. great view of the ocean and very relaxing in general. i can’t wait to return next year. you can walk out of your room and right onto the beach. restaurants and shops within walking distance. the people in Imperial Beach are all very friendly.

Traveler's tip on dining
