GREAT LOCATION!!!

The hotel’s location was great!! it was just a few steps from times square which is where all of the action is going on. Wlalking distance from many attractions such as Rockefellar Center, NBC studios, and St. Patricks Cathedral. The furniture was a little dated but in great conditions, always kept clean. A lot cheaper than other hotels and in great conditon and location. Would definitely stay there again!!

do not recommend paying extra $15 in the empire state building to go to the 102nd floor. The view from the 86th floor was great!!!!

Very Convenient

We flew into Laguardia, took the subway into Times Sq, got out of the subway, looked up and there was the hotel. It was right in the midst of everything. The service was more than adequate, a nice bar in the lobby. We were very happy with the experience.

No No No Never Again

With the cost of the room, I was looking for a better looking room, and the bed was so noisy every time you moved there was a noise. Will not be going back there.

Stay in a safe and Comfortable room.

Not too fancy, Not too pricey! Great Location!

I had a single occupant double bed and was looking at staying at Times Square relatively cheap. I got what I needed at a fair price. The beds were a little stiff but still felt good after a full day of activity. I’d go back.

Great location

Half a block to Times Square, surrounded by theaters and little resturants, and 5 blocks from the Port Authority bus station. The Red Sox are still classier than the Yankees.

Great

For the money the Edison Hotel allows me to save enough on hotels so that I can see an extra broadway show.

Great hotel - neat looking lobby - excellent service and the best thing is the LOCATION!!

Love the hotel, great lobby, excellent service and the location is the best! It’s right on Time Square, you can walk to so many things. Been going to the Edison for years, never had a problem.

Misleading

The Hotel Edison is not what it looks like in pictures. It’s a dump that is reminiscent of the Shining. I would never stay there again.

Nice place

the hotel is old but it was clean. The location is A+. You can walk to most of the tourists spots & near subways too. If your visit is mostly to watch shows, this is really the best place to stay.

Awful Customer Service

From the moment we checked in we had problems: The young woman at Reservations checked us in and when I told her that we wanted to waive all incidentals (phone, pay-per-view, etc.) she nodded like she understood and then promptly swiped my bank card, and told me the fund would be released when I checked out- she completely ignored my request. I then spent thirty minutes on the phone with my bank and the hotel Supervisor trying to fix her mistake. I never got an apology from the woman for her mistake. The next day the charge was on my account again! I had to spend another fifteen minutes on the phone with my bank before the charge was removed. Called down to the concierge to ask where to find a great Mexican place and the concierge told us he was very busy and would call us right back. Thirty minutes later he calls us back and gives us the location of a place ten blocks away when I knew I had seen something closer. We wound up just finding a place ourselves. The hotel is non-smoking but we smelled cigarette smoke for the first two days of our stay. We also had no heat for the first day and when we called down to the desk we were informed that there would be no heat as it was 60 degrees that day- despite the fact that the temp had fallen to forty! I’ve been to NYC many times and this was by far the worst stay I’ve had in a hotel there.

Great Location

I really liked the location of the hotel. An easy walk to the Theaters, and Restaurants. It was also very clean. It was an older hotel, and the room looked old, but that was my only complaint about it.

Incredible value for money !!!

My wife and I booked a 3-day getaway without the kids and we looked for good deals on flights and accommodation. We chose the Edison because it was among the most economical options around Times Square with a private bathroom. We were shocked to arrive at a good looking hotel, with good sized, clean rooms, good service and an outstanding location. We were in a room with limited view, just 200ft from Broadway Ave (a 20 second walk to Times Square), very quiet and above all at a GREAT price.

Although these things hardly ever seem to make sense, the City Pass for New York IS a good idea. If you go to 4 attractions only, you already get your money back. I suggest to seriously consider buying it in advance if you’re planning to visit the Statue of Liberty, the Guggenheim, the Empire State and any one other NY landmark that charges admission fees.

Great location and price for NYC

As a tourist you couldn’t ask for a better location in New York City, especially at that price. The hotel is a bit old but not that bad and worth the money. Internet access in the room costs too much so I ended up going to the red tkts stairs at Times Square (a 1 minute walk from the hotel) and connected to an open Wifi access point. It’s also walking distance from the Port Authority bus station where we got a shuttle to and from Newark airport.

Took care of us!!

Awesome visit! Our flight arrived early and we were allowed an early check in by the hotel staff. We were greeted at the door and cared for until we departed. It really is only 1/2 block from the heart of Time Square, could’t be better placed. Rooms were clean and neat. There’s a great deli right next door for absolutely whatever you want to eat or drink. Walking distance to the Today Show, Central Park and basically everything in Midtown. The hotel staff continued caring for us after we departed the hotel and had arrived home. My daughter left her prized Pokemon stuffed animals in the night stand drawer and she was crushed. Upon calling I spoke with a wonderful security guard (Didn’t get his name) that researched and found that housekeeping had in fact found the items. He took it upon himself to ship these stuffed animals to me Fex Ex next day air. The hotel even held our luggage for hours after we checked out due to a late flight home. Nothing bad to say, would surely stay again and recommend The Edison.

extremely satisfied

We have stayed in many other NYC hotels. The Edison was a very pleasant suprise. Everything from the check-in to final check-out was great. The location in the theater district was ideal. the price for a suite was very reasonable. The bedding is dated and not extremely comfortable. There are no ice machines. there is a per bucket charge for ice. Over-all, it was a wonderful experience.

GREAT LOCATION!!!

I got a room at the Edison for a special price. The room was fine (clean, no smell, comfortable beds). And the location is incredable!!! 1min walk to the timesquare. Every night after an exhausting day walking through new york I could sit down at the timesquare knowing that I can be in my bed in less then 3 minutes (including the elevator right ;-) I guess that if you would pay a normal price, you would probably get a room with newer furniture. But for the special I had the room was just fine, bathroom was clean too. I would always use this Hotel again!

Definitely worth staying there, great staff, service, location.

The Hotel Edison is on W. 47th St.. It’s decorated in art deco, 1920’s style, fantastic if you like that era, and we do. The staff very attentive with hotel services. Among the experienced, knowledgeable and attentive staff members, ’Tony’ at the Front Desk, wonderful, totally assisted our party with early check in, (very much appreciated), ’Emi’ in Transportation, very helpful, ’Shari’ at the Concierge, quite informative. They have security safes for items you wish to have them hold, complimentary. Visit the sundry shop there, the staff helpful, the prices for fun stuff, like NYC gifts, reasonable prices, and you won’t have to ’run all over town’ for the small items. The location, is absolutely great, in the vicinity of theatres, restaurants, shopping, and more, you can walk to nearly everywhere. The Hotel Edison rates are reasonable, considering it’s NYC. The security is great, as well, so guests of all ages may feel comfortable and secure. We will definitely stay at Hotel Edison for our NYC visits over the years.

Visiting NYC in September, to the 1st week of October is good. We visited NYC the 2nd week in October, and although the weather was okay, we experienced higher wind gusts, lower temps, and perhaps more rain, than 1 month prior, we still had a great, great time.

Best Ever!

I was only in the city for a few days. All I needed was a bed to sleep in. This hotel exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were very clean. The only thing that I did want to see was more amenities. There were no coffee machines, no ice or cups. Very basic. However the location of the hotel made up for that. I would recommend this hotel to be on the top of the list.

Friendly Staff and Excellent Location & Price

I had read ALL the reviews of the hotel and being mixed as they were, I arrived with pretty low expectations. To say the least, I was extremely surprised when we got to our room. Our queen suite had a bedroom and living room with large, modern TV’s and were very nicely decorated in a sort of modern Victorian style. The bathroom had a window with a great view of the M&M Factory a block away. The staff were great, we got to know them and constantly were asking for directions, advice, more blankets, etc. They always responded in a timely and friendly manner. Times Square is just a block away. If you enjoy walking, like we do, it’s not that far to Central Park (20 min), Rockefeller Center (15) and NYPL (25). Two complaints: There is no room service, and that sucked when we got the munchies. The Cafe downstairs closed at 7:30pm! Woulda been nice if they had vending machines at least. Second complaint is the lack of a fridge/coffee pot/microwave and safe. All are often part of a standard hotel room, but they had none of these things there. Maybe it’s how they can charge such a great rate in a great location. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend for anyone who wants a great location for an affordable price.

Don’t spend a fortune on a hotel. You’re not buying it, it’s just a place to sleep and unwind in between exploring the city. Save your money for seeing plays, having a nice dinner, going to the museums and zoos.

Times Square on the cheap (relatively)

If you want to stay in Times Square but don’t want to go broke doing it consider this hotel. However, the rooms are small. Not sure how 2 people could maneuver around each other comfortably. The bed was quite comfortable and there was adequate closet space. The bathroom was clean and not for short peple. I am almost 6’ and i had to reach up for the shower cutain. Standing in the tub i actually felt short. The walls don’t muffle sound well. Could hear when the next person was taking a shower. Thankfully the TV volume masked the sound. The room was well suited for 2 nights. The front desk staff are not very friendly. One lady was chatting with some guy and looked annoyed that she had to help me. Was quick to return to her convo even though i had another question. I left it alone. Was also close to The Grey Line Bus Tour and The Lion King which i felt safe walking too and from.

Great Location

This hotel was in a great location to Times Square and all of the Broadway theaters. We would definitely stay here again. The price was affordable. Comfort was not 100%, but it was worth it for the location.

I’ll be back!

The room was good size for New York and 4 of us were comfortable. Location is terrific. This is the second year we have stayed at the Edison. Both stays were great. I plan to stay again next year!

Traveler's tip on dining

There is a nice deli/buffet restuarant just beside the hotel, a little pricey but very good food with wide variety

Great location and price

I have stayed at other hotels for much more money and they were no nicer and certainly did not have the great location as the Edison.
