beautiful view from rooftop
Check out the rooftop space - that alone made the stay worth it. Watching the sunset over the MIssissippi was memorable, as was the hotel restaurant.
We went for a performance of Ballet Memphis - make sure to add them to your Memphis to do list

Somewhat disappointing
The hotel was beautiful. Location was perfect. The staff was beyond nice and accomadating. It was "somewhat disappointing" in the inconsistencys that we experienced while being there. For the money we paid we expected to be treated on an upscale level. the first night was great other than they never brought us extra blankets. The second day we get back from being out at 3:30 and our room has not been cleaned and we have no clean towels or ice. We called and they came shortly after to clean. That night we get back aroun 10:30 and we have no turn down service. We called the front desk and they apoligized and did give us very appetizers and drinks which was really nice. This was a girls get away and we decided to treat ourselves with a luxury hotel but did not get the complete luxury stay. The staff was amazing which allowed the inconsitencys to be overlooked somwhat. There were other complaints that we overheard and they could only apologize and blame it on the amount of people that had stayed there that weekend. Not good enough as far as Im concerned.
Traveler's tip on dining
We ate at Felicia Suzannes which is just next store to the Madison. It is pricey and upscale but oh soooooo worth it. One of the best meals that Ive ever eaten and loved the atmosphere. The breakfast at the hotel was really good but for a special treat try the ARCADE. It is the oldest diner in Memphis and has a lot of history. Elvis Presley has his own booth there. If you like grits you must try them!

Would love to come back at a better rate!
The room service staff was lovely..My family and I ordered dessert in our room after a lovley meal at McEwens (located down the road). However, the room was REALLY pricey for one night..we are not staying at the Ritz Carlton here!

Very nice and centrally-located hotel
The hotel was very clean and well-kept. Our room was a good size. It had both a living room and bedroom and, although we did not need both, it afforded more space if we did need it. The hotel and lobby were very nice...but we did not take advantage of it since we were in town for one evening and wanted to be outside rather than inside. The staff was very friendly and helped to resolve a booking issue quickly. Overall, a very nice place to stay in a very centralized location.

Great rooftop view
Everything was first class, especially enjoyed the rooftop views of the water at night. Can walk to downtown activities. Will return!

Great Hotel
Stayed at The Madison during a recent trip to Memphis. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful with any questions or needs you may have. Would definitely stay again when in Memphis.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Hotel valet parking is super expensive and parking on the street is very limited. You can save a lot of $$$ by parking at the 24hr garage 2 blocks over.

Nice Hotel in Downtown
Overall, we were pleased with our stay. Walking distance to Beale St. I wish the concierge recommended we rent a car instead of using a taxi since the fees were crazy.
Traveler's tip on dining
To visit the best bbq places, rent a car. We didnt and we were not as happy with the places downtown and taxi fees are outrageous.

Very nice; watch the extras
The hotel and room were beautiful; although despite the high price of the room; almost everything including the "complementary toothpaste" cost extra. They also tried to charge me for the "complementary" continental breakfast.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
Beale Street is within walking distance

Downtown independant hotel
Beautiful hotel in central location near Beale St, excellent choice with attractive off-season rates if you want to avoid the sameness of chain hotels. Very friendly and attentive staff, although expensive parking and somewhat skimpy "free" continental breakfast.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Park around the corner for cheap or free; downtown area except for Beale St pretty quiet at night; expect somewhat aggressive panhandlers.

Very impressive and priced right!
great location, courteous staff, food ok but close to restaurants on Beale st., parking was not bad if you could find a street location in front of the hotel.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
close to entertainment but not right on the busy streets

Very Nice Location
The intent of my trip was of leisure. I wanted a location that was close to Beale Street and Downtown. The hotel is very nice and truly is a boutique hotel. There is a valet fee of app. $25 per day. There are five metered spots available right by the hotel. Be aware that you are competing with other guests as well as valet for those spots.
Traveler's tip on dining
One of the best things about this hotel is that is within walking distance (2.5 blocks) from Rendezvous. The best BBQ I have had in my life!

Great place to kick back and relax
It was clean and all the staff were very professional. The attendants in the lobby were full of great information of all the spots to check out in the city and we were very impressed with their timeliness.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
If you like Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and other great old time music artists then you should check out Sun Studios. It was the original recording studio for all these guys...great experience.

Wonderful stay...
While on our honeymoon, we stayed here two nights and were thrilled with the hotel. The location is great if you dont want to be in the middle of tourist city, yet youre only a couple of blocks from the action. Plus its only a few steps to catch the trolley. Go up to the roof and watch the sunset - we were able to snap some good photos of ourselves. There is a Walgreens less than a block away if you want to pick up some less expensive snacks. They do charge about $20 a day for parking, but we wanted the sights in the downtown area so it worked beautifully. We never had to worry about finding a parking spot. The room was extremely comfortable; it was nice coming "home" in the evenings. The bathroom was huge and had a shower separate from the tub. The staff was extremely friendly and was ready to recommend dining spots or offer directions to places. If we go back to Memphis, this hotel will definitely be at the top of our list.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The Arcade, located SEVERAL blocks down Main (take the trolley), is great if you are a fan of diners. Its also a block from the National Civil Rights Museum. Rendezvous (hidden in an alley) is also good for ribs. If youve never seen the Peabody ducks, you need to get over there. Be there around 10:30, especially if you have little ones so they can get a prime spot.

Not a chain hotel
Friendy staff, a great resturaunt and bar. Ill go back on my next trip to Memphis. The only down side is the renovation of some buildings nearby.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
A short walk to the Red Birds stadium
