Nice Hotel!

Nice, Clean, Convenient Hotel. Only complaint was that we requested to check in 2 hours early in order to get ready for a wedding and they weren’t able to do this. Other than that we had an excellent stay and will definately return the next time that we stay in Philly.

Very nice

This hotel is pricey, but it’s lovely, comfortable, and close to great restaurants.

Not impressed, next time I will try another hotel.

The room had a strange smell, you can hear lots of noise late at night.

Nice Location

Overall a very nice stay, rooms were clean and comfortable, Lobby was nice. The pool ran out of towels and it took over an hour for someone to restock (after at least 10 people called the front desk). Nice flat screens in the rooms, but I will never understand why these hotels don’t also upgrade their programming to HD content when they install all of the nice HD tv’s!

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Many breakfast choices in the area, the restaurant was pricey. But at least the food and service was good.

We will return...

The hotel was gorgeous, the staff was friendly and we loved the room with a view! It was close to everything we wanted to do and even discovered more fun due to the location of our hotel. The only drawback was a noisy AC unit in the room, but it might have been only in THAT room, so I would still highly encourage people to stay here.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The hotel is so close to south street as well as all of the historical sights, such as the Liberty Bell. It is a beautiful walk and there are nice parks that we took advantage of surrounding the area.

Beware

The internet isn’t free and its not included to park at the hotel either. All in all about $50 more. Not that welcoming.

Needs Work

The hotel was convenient to what we wanted to do, but the room definetly needs some TLC. Carpets were worn and dirty. Desk chair had seen better days. There was no soap or hangers in the room, and it took several calls to housekeeping to get either... never did get hangers. I stay at this hotel each summer when I come to Philly, so I was disappointed to find it slipping.

Poor sound proof

Very noisy and no sound proof seal of the door; very loud sound from hall way and next room via inter-room doors. Will not recommend.

Very comfortable hotel

Great location within walking distance of the major historical sites, lots of restaurants and the waterfront. Felt very safe walking around the area, day or night. The hotel staff was completely accommodating. Only negative is it is showing some signs of wear and could use some maintenance in the way of hallway carpet and bathroom wallpaper. Otherwise, no complaints.

Traveler's tip

Valet only parking at this hotel. A little expensive, but secure. There are other lots in the area but none are free.

Great Hotel in the Historic District

This hotel is in a great location and is just a few short blocks to all the major attractions. The hotel is well-maintained and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The only thing that I did not like is that if your room faces the open interior courtyard, it can get rather noisy at night. Request a room facing the street if possible. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Traveler's tip on dining

The City Tavern is right across the street and serves great food in a historic atmosphere. For cheesesteaks, I highly recommend Sonny’s on Market Street. Nick’s Roast Beef on 2nd also has great sandwiches and cheesesteaks

Great Location

This hotel is perfect for a long weekend of sightseeing. In the heart of Society Hill you are only a few short blocks from all of the major historical areas of Philly. The hotel itself has an old world charm with all the comforts of a modern hotel. We had a room overlooking the interior courtyard and were initially worried about noise but it was completely sound proof. The pool area was very nice and the water was warm. The staff was amazingly friendly. We checked in at 1130pm and housekeeping arrived right away to remove the down comforter and pillows that I was allergic to and bring us regular pillows. They even came back with extra blankets a few minutes later. This is a midlevel hotel, comfortable beds, friendly staff and GREAT location.

Traveler's tip on dining

Old City Pizza 1 block from the Betsy Ross House is a excellent place for Pizza, Sandwiches and Fries. Reasonable prices $7-12 for lunch and very quick service. Also Campos has great Philly cheesesteaks!

Definitely not a Sheraton quality

The location is great, it was close to my meeting, close to historic sites and sightseeing. But that was as good as it gets. The service was definitely not of "Sheraton" quality. Unclean rooms. Poor customer rapport and service. Rowdy crowds and parties/weddings trickled into the hallways into early morning hours, yelling and shouting, and the hotel was not effective in controlling the environment. Next Philly trip, I am for sure choosing another hotel.

dated

The hotel was very dated and basic. Our room looked directly into all of the a/c equipment right outside our window. The location was good, but the hotel was less than we expected it to be. It was clean, but very basic and dated.

Perfect for our family trip!

Spent 3 days in Philadelphia & wanted to be close to everything -- the Sheraton Society Hill fit the bill. Clean, courteous and very conveniently located to historic sites, South Street & Market Street. Kids loved the pool and access to the Club Lounge (free breakfast & free evening appetizers). The rooms were quiet and we could hear nothing from adjacent rooms. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Try Frankin’s Fountain for ice cream (Market & Letitia Streets) -- old fashioned ice cream bar. Don’t miss the parade in Signer’s Park for the kids -- they loved it!

There are better places to stay at

We were very disappointed in this hotel. First we called to verify our stay and that we requested 2 double beds. We were told that a king was reserved for us. I asked why since they knew the reservation was for 2 adults and an 11 year-old. They said we could change it when we checked in. So we arrived at the hotel, stood in line for 15 minutes and when we made it to the counter we asked for the 2 doubles, they said they weren’t ready yet. The woman said it would be 20 minutes, she took my cell number and we would get a call when it was all set. Did I mention she said would have to stand back in line? We waited an hour before I walked back to the front desk since we had not heard from anybody. Another woman at the desk informs us that all they have left is king size beds. Needless to say I was not happy, especially since we could have checked in earlier if we accepted the king size before. My other complaint was the water pressure. For whatever reason the water in the shower would be little more than a trickle for 5 minutes then be fine, then go back to a trickle.

Deferred Maintenance

The lobby is great. Starbucks is available during the day. Once that closes, it becomes a bar where the bartender said "fifteen minutes" to make a hot chocolate. Fourth floor room was far removed from the elevator. Large stains on fourth floor carpeting in hall. Seems like nice hotel with deferred maintenance starting to show. Concierge did recommend good Italian restaurant. A little out of the way. Not right on the river and not walking distance to center of action.

Great location

Great location and a short walk to all the historical sites in Philadelphia. No need for cabs or cars. Knowledgeable staff, helpful too. First time to Philadelphia and plan to go back on Labor Day and stay at this hotel again.

Great Location!

This hotel is a great pick! So many things within walking distance (we parked the car and never needed it during our stay), decent rate, and overall good quality. Nice staff too - very helpful.

Not as impressend as I should have been

The hotel was nice but I wasn’t as impressed as I should have been with a name like Society Hill. There was a water stain on the lampshade in my room, something I would expect from a Motel in no where land. Also did not like the fact that when you open the door to the room you are immediately greeted by the bathroom. But carpet was soft, which I’ve never seen in other hotels and the bed was comfortable.

Traveler's tip on dining

Do not order from the pizza place the hotel recommends because they take forever!
