Yepton Estate, St. John's - Map
"A beautiful place and a richly rewarding holiday"
Trust the very positive reviews. A welcoming phone call from Gabriela after we had booked assured us that we were in good hands. She and Douglas are delightful hosts, well-informed about the island and the people – whom we found good-natured and always helpful. On arrival we were presented with a complimentary bottle of wine, and taken to a well-stocked supermarket. Douglas, with map, directed us to good beaches and the many places to visit, including historic sites, beach bars and restaurants. A car is needed to explore, as well as to shop, but Yepton is well-placed, in a quiet area on the north-west coast, yet close to St John’s from which all roads across the island lead. It was also deeply rewarding just to be on the Yepton estate. Six comfortable cottages, with air-conditioned bedrooms, are well-equipped for self-catering and spaciously and attractively set out on the estate, adjacent to a small but welcome pool. Our cottage combined a spacious living room and kitchen. Always we ate outside on the veranda, attracting beautiful small birds and gorgeous green lizards to our table. It was enriching just to sit, relax, and take in the view. A few metres from the cottages across the lawn lies a lagoon, surrounded by shrubs, endlessly fascinating. The water is alive with brown pelicans, egrets, herons, terns and much else, with frigate birds overhead – and in the twilight small bats flit past. A ten-minute walk leads to a white-sand, blue-sea beach.

"Budget Hotel in a pleasant location."
Overall it served the purpose of my trip, which was to attend the 1st Test Match between West Indies and England. I breakfasted in the hotel, but no other meals were available, and it was necessary to walk some distance or taxi for dinner.

"Excellent "
Our stay at the Keyonna Beach Resort was fantastic. The staff was amazing, they were friendly and very helpful. This hotel is geared towards couples looking for a relaxing vacation. If your looking for a big party resort, don't bother, this is not the experience you will recieve at this hotel. We stayed in one of the cottages, and found that it was spacious and more than accommodated our needs. Just on that note, the cottage main sleeping area is air conditioned, the bathroom is not. The grounds to the hotel were very mature with trees, shrubs and flowering plants throughout. The hotel lobby and dining area is all outdoors, and at night is a little dark. Which adds to the romance for couples. The food we were served was fantastic all week. It did seem to get a little repetitive, with choice of either pasta, fish, or chicken. The special of the day was usually enough to change it up. The only thing about the resort I would have changed may have been that it needs a little updating. As for activities, there are plenty of things to do on the island, Jolly Harbour diving was fantastically accommodation. We did a day trip to Monserrat which was also good (aside from going through immigration at the ferry). I will define fly be returning.

"A hidden gem on Dickenson Bay"
Could not have asked for a better hotel in an amazing destination; Our room on the ground floor was within 10 second walk from the nearby beaches on Dickenson Bay/Runaway Bay. Coconut Grove restaurant is on the beach front. They offer you complimentary Rum punch on arrival. Reception staff are super friendly and spent over an hour booking our day trips and giving advice (the staff have done these day trips so they were honest with value and how much fun you can have). Everyone is friendly, from the owner Tony to the maintenance staff sweeping the perfectly maintained garden on a daily basis. Heated swimming pool. Room was very spacious, parking was plentiful, kitchen was basic but great for simple dinners and breakfast. Small hotel - staff make you feel special rather than a small fish in a big pond. Free sun loungers (when we went in Aug). Great local amenities including; fish cart on Wed+Fri, Fort James beach, St Johns, supermarkets, cinema, sushi restaurant, petrol stations. The only down side was the fact that both Coconut Grove and Ana's on the Beach are fairly expensive (over $26 for main meal) due to their beach front location, their great reputation and Sands Hotel nearby. So we found ourselves eating in Fort James beach and further afield where prices are more to our budget (around £10 per person for main meal!).

"Quiant hotel"
I recently stayed at this hotel to attend a conference held at Sandals. The hotel sits on a hill overlooking Dickenson Bay. All the rooms have a great view and the area is very quiet. Whilst the rooms lack some of the creature comforts that the larger hotels may have, Tradewinds makes up for it with their clean rooms, and friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel grounds are very pretty and you can enjoy the bird singing and feeding in the morning while having breakfast.

"Test Match Special"
Two cricket fan, we stayed here prior to, during and after the record breaking (J Anderson) 2015 Test Match West Indies v England. within 8 hours of arriving we dined at the beach restaurant 50 yards/metres from our room and met three cricketing LEGENDS.. The beach and its facilities were a cricket ball's throw away and were very good as was the pool although both were a bit short of "shade" in the 30 degree plus heat of the day. The resort does not have its own dining facility, but at either end of its beach there was a separately run bar/restaurant. We were able to leave the resort by using the adequate taxi service. The costs thoughout were generally "reasonable" although one had to be somewhat selective when dining (nearby) as certain items looked a .bit expensive. General rating 4 out of 5 and better than advertised

"Central in St.Johns, convenient for airport;"
Staff very pleasant and helpful; we found no plug in the washbasin. A full breakfast Menu included "Two eggs done any style"with potatoes. Choice of 2 other items offered. We ordered one for poached eggs, and when the order was eventually served it was not only almost cold, but the eggs were swimming in water and appeared to have been chopped up. There were no potatoes on the plate. Service of breakfast was slow. After an unsuccessful attempt to mop up the water with two table napkins, plate returned to waitress with request for proper poached eggs, and the missing potatoes. After more delay a fresh plate was served, with slightly improved eggs i.e. larger lumps of egg with less water, and added potatoes. We were told the Cook had not poached eggs before, did not know how to, and he was not a chef, just someone who was cooking the breakfasts...! .
