"The room was very small. The bathroom floor was one step higher than the room, which could be dangerous when one gets up at night to use it due to poor lighting and sleepiness. However, these are all minor issues comparing with what we encountered upon check-in at the front desk. We were told that while Expedia informed the hotel of my reservation, it didn't send the payment to the hotel, so I had to pay to the hotel. "It’s a remote location. I have a 4x4 and it was challenging to get to the hotel due to the loose rocks, especially as you get closer to the hotel. The good: remote location, very quiet with no internet access for digital detox. Good hike up to the big rock (800 meters). Good host. The bad: cabins are not well maintained. My whole family had spider bites in the morning. "

"Desde que llegue las cosas empezaron mal, me cobraron aproximadamente unos 200 Dolares mas, con la excusa de que la plataforma calculaba mal los precios, la habitación es supremente pequeña, no tenia closet, y no daba mas espacio que para la cama, ademas que la que nos toco, daba directamente a la calle, en la parte baja existe una especie de terminal de buses, donde a toda hora se escuchan los gritos de las rutas que salen."

"I stayed at Casa Carmel during a business trip to Guatemala, and overall it was a great experience. The property is a beautiful, cleverly adapted historic house that has been transformed into a charming bed-and-breakfast. You can really feel the character of the place. The location is excellent if you want to explore the city. Several beautiful churches and important landmarks are within walking distance, which makes it a great place to stay if you want to get to know the historic center better. One small note for travelers arriving by car: there is a parking lot almost directly in front of the property, but it comes at an additional cost per hour or per night. The website clearly mentions that parking is not included, so this was expected, and I did not consider it a negative aspect of my stay. For reference, I paid around Q150 (USD 20.00 at the time) for less than a full day of parking. Overall, Casa Carmel is a wonderful place to stay, especially if you appreciate historic buildings and a central location."

"The room was very small. The bathroom floor was one step higher than the room, which could be dangerous when one gets up at night to use it due to poor lighting and sleepiness. However, these are all minor issues comparing with what we encountered upon check-in at the front desk. We were told that while Expedia informed the hotel of my reservation, it didn't send the payment to the hotel, so I had to pay to the hotel. I made a credit card payment as demanded, and recieved only a credit card receipt but no hotel receipt stating the purpose of the charge. Later on, after multiple inquires about the double payments, the hotel conceded that their receptionist had made a mistake and the payment "was cancelled". After more than 10 days, the payment is still on my credit card account and further inquiries from me received no response from the hotel."
