Not far from the modern skyscrapers of Doha is a huge green park with plenty of space for exercise and relaxation.
With lots of green space and views of the Persian Gulf beyond the Doha Corniche, Al Bidda Park is a great spot to step away from the busy city center of Doha. Come for some exercise or bring kids to play in the almost 500 acres (2,000,000 square meters) of the park. Trees, bushes, flowers and grassy spaces cover much of the area, making a visit to Al Bidda Park perfect for bird watching.
Historically much of the space was known as Al Rumaila Park. After a 4-year period of renovation, the park reopened as Al Bidda Park in 2018 on National Sports Day. Enjoy new or expanded facilities including separate biking and running paths, children’s playgrounds and an adult fitness area. Large gymnasiums are separated by gender. Tennis, volleyball and basketball courts are located at several spots around the site. The park also connects to the Qatar Bowling Centre.
Wander through the maze and attend an event at the open-air amphitheater. Bring supplies for a picnic and cook at the large barbecue area. Unlike many public park spaces across Doha, dogs are allowed here on leash in certain areas. The site has horse trails and even a camel path.
Join residents, visitors and royalty here on Qatar National Day in December to view thousands of members of the armed services parading past the park on the Doha Corniche. A spring bazaar brings food stalls, shops and entertainment to the park.
Find Al Bidda Park at about the midpoint of the Doha Corniche, just south of the Qatar National Theatre. The park is open at all times, with some facilities having shorter hours.
Because the area is so large, club cars known as buggies are available to provide transportation assistance across the site. The Souq Waqif marketplace is about a 30-minute walk from the park.
Travel to Al Bidda Park by taxi or drive from the Doha Airport in about 20 minutes. Note that some drivers may still call this Al Rumaila Park. If you drive, finding parking should be easy in the 6,000 spaces in the park’s large underground lot.
