Berlin, the capital of Germany, is about 250 miles (402 kilometers) to the east of Ascheberg, while Cologne is 65 miles (105 kilometers) to the southwest.
You don't have to limit yourself to the points of interest in Ascheberg because the entire region has been blessed with a wealth of captivating cultural and natural attractions. Welver, is 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the northwest, and Haltern sits 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the east.
Organize some transport and spend some time in Essen, a regional center, some 35 miles (56 kilometers) from Ascheberg. This bigger city has a number of points of interest, including Colosseum Theater, Zollverein Coal Mine World Heritage Site and Old Synagogue. Essen Cathedral, Villa Hugel and Folkwang Museum are also good spots for investigating while you are here.
If you're keen on soaking up some of the the local culture, head straight to Schleswig-Holstein's history museums and theaters. Journey back in time during your stay in the Schleswig-Holstein area. Visit some of the war relics and monuments for which the area is renowned.
A great way to enjoy the great outdoors in Schleswig-Holstein is to sign up for a horse riding or hiking tour. This destination has some great places for boating, so make sure you fit that into your itinerary. Fishing is another watersport here.
