We did an afternoon trip with Muine Backpackers travel and tour agent. We all went in a Russian Jeep to the Fairy Stream, views overlooking some fishing boats (unfortunately a very polluted beach), then onto the white sand dunes as seen here. After about an hour of running up/down the dunes we went for a sunset at the red sand dunes. All of this for $7 per person. We wanted to rent a scooter but after seeing the roads/roadwork on the way to the white sand dunes we were happy we didn't. Terrain for a jeep or off-road bike. The only downfall was they overbooked the tour and it was a tight squeeze in the back of the Jeep. Overall it was a good trip which combined everything you need to see in Mui Ne or surrounding area. Our recommendation would be to see the White sand dunes and then a sunset at the red sand dunes. Sliding down the dunes on plastic boards the local kids try and sell you for about 25000-40000 dong don't work and ours broke.
