Industry training

Posted Apr 26, 2016 on Hotels
Industry training for a few days so was looking for something cheap and economical but yet decent from Internet pictures and profile. This hotel was economical but a little worse for wear then the Internet images showed. Was a little uncomfortable at first especially since the A/C didn't work the first night but ended up being able to sleep well enough to get through the training and industry information. Basically used the hotel just at night to sleep since I was busy during the day and evening. Good cheap place to rest your head but may choose something different in the future.

I stood at the front desk next to someone who had gotten into something harder than I've ever experimented with. Not the ideal start to a hotel stay, but not the hotels fault. There are some odd guest rules - which I can only assume are to prevent room parties and visits from paid companions. I checked in to my non-smoking room - which had either just been switched from smoking, or maybe over time the smell from the hallway and stairwell took it over. Either way, if you absolutely can't handle the smell of smoke - it may not be the place for you. Other than that - the rooms are good. Comfortable beds, nice shower, old school window unit a/c. Mini fridge that works fine, and microwave that I can assume works fine (clock on it works for sure). From what I can tell without personal experience - this is the nicest hotel on this street - and it definitely gets fewer parking lot patrols from local law enforcement than the other 2. There is good barbecue at one end of the road, and in the other direction - you're only two turns and at most - 4 miles from downtown. Other than the smokey smell - most of my negative thoughts on this hotel are about the other guests. So, if you need a place - it's worth a shot (just latch the door locked and try to avoid eye contact in the hallway).

Rude reception, required ID from each adult staying in room and captured our DL numbers. When asked if we were safe, was assured we were, while a "guest" attempted to bum a cigarette and/or a light while we are at front desk. NO ELEVATOR for a third story room proved to be challenging for my asthmatic wife. 1 star people throughout hotel. Cell Block A must have been the smoking section as walking through that corridor will require a future biopsy. Oddly enough, room itself was nice, clean, and free of smoke. Air Conditioning worked, but control panel was so scratched and damaged, impossible to decipher how to control.

Don't let the pictures deceive you

Online the hotel pictures look as if it was updated and clean. The hotel smells like old and musty. The doors are old wooden ones and I didn't feel comfortable at all.
