The St. James was a great way to experience New York; nestled in to the middle of downtown for easy access to many places. The old interior was iconic and fun, especially riding the tiny elevator. The staff was friendly the room was great in every way except not having a fridge or microwave. I would definitely return here!

You get what you pay for. The check-in process was frustrating. No information was sent prior to arrival, and I only received instructions about 20 minutes before check-in time after calling twice to ask for them. Each time I came to the property, I saw other guests in the lobby dealing with the same issue. There’s also no staff present in the lobby to assist in person, which made things even more difficult. The room had several problems as well. The TV remote had no batteries. I called three times and was told it would be fixed, but after three days, nothing was done, so I ended up buying them myself. There was also a dirty towel in the room, and despite calling twice for a replacement, it was never addressed. I eventually had to go out and buy one. There was also a noticeable weed smell in the hallways, which made the environment less pleasant. On the positive side, the studio itself was okay and had all the basic amenities.
