"Super stay at Hotel Vent d'Eden, hotel very close to forests and the beach, it was perfect for what we were after. Would benefit from a small fridge in the room!"

"We booked weeks in advance and arrived after a four hour drive to be told that we couldn't use car park because we did not reserve parking.
Hotels.com gave no options to reserve and the listing details say nothing about reservation. There was no on road parking available. The manager kept saying it is clearly marked and I showed him it wasn't.
Eventually the young lady on reception worked something out to park at the side of the hotel. That night and before we left two parking spaces remained available in the parking. So frustrating and needless stress.
The room was very basic and looked nothing like the photos.
Breakfast buffet was very basic and poor value for money. No gluten free or lactose free options despite messaging twice in advance. If I didn't bring my own food I would have had nothing yet still paid for breakfast!!!
The coastline is beautiful but the town was lacklustre.
It was not even that cheap! Go elsewhere.
Paid much less for much better, overpriced and underperforming hotel.
We would have left were it not for the really friendly and helpful young lady on reception.

"As said in the title, first time in the Vendéé.Saint-Gilles is a typical french seaside village, which harbours all the joys one could expect from that.Perfect weather, strong tides at sea, lots of fine tiny restaurants in the village. Then, the house, petit as they say but o so complete for a holiday stay. All the necessities are there, the house is beautifully decorated, with additional furniture for the terrace. Located just 50 metres from the boulevard, and in with the village within walking range, it is the perfect spot for a holiday on the French coast. That said, we should mention Marylene, the owner and a perfect host.We will be back!!Regards, René & Dinie"
"Good. Major drawback was unexpected cost of parking ( 10 euros per day ). Hotels.com should have forewarned us ( ie next to the « self parking « tick on advert. Also no fridge. But room just about big enough’. Bed comfortable."
"The hotel was unusual in its decor however it was clean and well kept. The room was adequate with great a cleaning service. The breakfasts were well organised and everything you needed. The proprietor was an amazing man. He was pleasant helpful and helped with my French pronunciations. He had amazing sense of humour I would definitely visit again
Well done
