Old Town Bratislava takes you on a historical journey in Slovakia’s capital. Visit the main attractions throughout the compact area on foot. Between seeing notable sites and museums, enjoy dining at charming restaurants, shopping for souvenirs and eating fancy cakes.

Bratislava Castle overlooks the Old Town from the hill above, resembling a storybook castle from a distance. Set aside time to explore the museum and climb the 13th-century Crown Tower.

You’ll also want to visit Bratislava City Museum’s locations throughout town. Learn about Bratislava’s past at the City History Museum in the Old City Hall on Hlavne Square. The Johann Nepomuk Hummel Museum offers a glimpse of the life of the Bratislava-born composer. At the Museum of Arms, bladed weapons and tournament arms join exhibits on how firearms were developed. Discover historical equipment such as glass medicine storage containers and stoneware at the Museum of Pharmacy and visit the Museum of Clocks in the House of the Good Shepherd.

The gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral is a three-nave structure, the current version of which was consecrated in 1452. Inside, you’ll see four chapels and stunning stained-glass windows. Take memorable photos with the Blue Church, officially the Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary. The beautiful art nouveau building is painted in blue hues both inside and out.

Walk along the Danube River and admire the striking architecture of the New Bridge (Most SNP). For aerial views, ride the elevator to the UFO Observation Deck over the bridge.

Book tickets for a show at Bratislava’s opera house, the Old Slovak National Theatre, which first opened in 1886 on Hviezdoslav Square. Try your luck at the Banco Casino during a night out at Old Town’s buzzing restaurants and bars.

Fly to Bratislava Airport for a 20-minute taxi ride to Old Town Bratislava. Walk between the area’s attractions and hotels easily. Cars aren’t recommended due to limited space however, large hotels may offer parking. Taxis, trains and buses are available throughout Bratislava.
