“This was a short holiday for my husband and me, and our adult children. We had cosy fires every evening and some nice meals in the dining room and the area. Plenty of walks, plenty of shops in Penrith for buying supplies. Very clean and well equipped cottage. Thoughtfully decorated. Very quiet area. We will be back I am sure.”

“The house was everything we needed, opposite a pub and the swimming pool. The villagers were very friendly and helpfull, especially in the swimming pool. Unfortunately the internet stopped working on the third day but the rental company responded out of hours to help sort it out..”

“The Duke of Portland’s loss was our gain! Perfect location, perfect views, in fact, perfect in every way - from the roll top bath with the stunning views to the well equipped kitchen, cosy lounge with log burner and lulled to sleep by the gentle waves. A short walk to catch the Ullswater steamer and then into Pooley bridge for great restaurant choices. We’ll be back!”

“Though bijou, it was well designed and the space was very well used. The outside space was good and lovely to have the hills around, We did have problems using the very modern microwave/grill and cooker - It needed DETAILED WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS! and we would have preferred an ordinary electric kettle. A corkscrew, too would have been useful!But, we enjoyed a wonderful 2 days”

“We had a lovely stay in this house. I'd read reviews that criticised the cleanliness of it, and I wonder why some people like to moan. (To get good cleaners in the Lake District is not the easiest thing.) We liked the house and garden. It was good that the owner had left everything we might need, washing up liquid, paper towels, numerous toilet rolls (of good quality), as well as cooking equipment etc. My son and I had fun lighting the log burner stove with the wood provided. “Sheepfold Barn was the perfect location for my weekend with friends! It's rural location gave us the peace we all wanted and privacy to use the hot tub without concerns about people looking. It is located at the end of farm track but despite the recent wet weather it wasn't too muddy and was easy to navigate. It's interiors are to die for and the house is well stocked with everything you could need, we all came away wishing we could live there full time! Only issue was the heating wasn't working……
