"Had a great stay at the Sporthotel. The facilities are excellent and the surroundings are beautiful. The weather wasn’t great, but there was so much to do indoors that nobody was bored - tennis, table tennis, billiard, swimming pool, saunas, and a good gym! When the weather was good, we visited the volcanic lakes in the area - the autumn colours of the trees around were amazing in the sunshine. We loved the breakfast buffet which had a great variety of food on offer, and we also enjoyed the one evening meal we took. All in all, a really nice stay at Sporthotel Grafenwald!"

"The hotel is a great destination for couples or adults. The swimming pool and spa areas are not suitable for children but wonderful for adults. Everything is very clean and well looked after. We stayed in one of the south-facing rooms (last minute booking) in the older part of the hotel, the rooms was comfortably furnished and a good size. There were many nice touches such as complementary chilled mineral water and a bottle of wine, an umbrella, a rucksack with water bottles that could be borrowed while staying at the hotel. The staff members were all well trained, very polite and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, there were so many choices of delicious food, even options of freshly cooked omelette. They also offered their own sparkling wine as an extra treat, which was delicious. Contrary to the hotel’s website, there is no à la carte menu in the evening but guests have to choose from a 3 course menu by 4 pm on the day, which is fine if one is already staying there but an inconvenience if one is travelling that day but would like to eat at the hotel. The evening meal was nice but we thought quite expensive for what it was. We regularly dine out in the UK in upmarket restaurants but the quantity and sophistication of the dishes, although nice, did not warrant the price of €55 per person. Having said this, we loved our stay at Hotel Kessler-Meyer and we are hoping to stop there again on our way through Germany to Austria. "
