It is not necessarily a town that I would generally recommend. It is not your traditional Spanish/Catalan dream destination. It very much looks like something the 70's spit out and no one ever bothered to clean up. With that said, I freaking love this little freakish town, which I quickly & affectionately nicknamed "The Twilight Zone." The strangest occurrences happened throughout the month, yes MONTH, I lived in Calella. Apparently since the 70's, Calella, was a booming tourist destination for Western Europeans and the British. It has been on a massive decline over the past decade. What's left behind though are some fun Dutch and English/Irish pubs, a small welcoming expat community, and one of the most incredible beaches you will ever lay your eyes on. Beautiful clean white sand for miles and crystal clear turquoise water. Parties & bars on the beach, some free concerts in the summer time and of course drinking it allowed as well. If you happen to find yourself here, you must stop in at Beach Boys Club, tell the owners, Brian & Cathy, that Amber sent you. Then hit up Brian for his secret stash of American imported Budweiser (Did you know the bottled stuff is always produced in country? Brian believes the secrets in the water, so he gets the cans from the US. Brian is British, which makes this little story even better.) Malheureusement pour le reste c'est une catastrophe. L'hôtel est très vieillissant, sale (ne regardez pas derrière la porte d'entrée) et très bruyant. La restauration est par contre correcte sans être très recherchée. Los camareros y la gente que trabaja todos súper simpáticos, un trato super familiar, la comida variada y todos los dias nuevos platos. Las habitaciones estan bastante bien y buena animación para padres y niños. Des caffards dans la chambre .des puce de lits ou petite betes . Je suis aller voir la receptions . Il m'ont repondu desole . J'ai demander a changer de chambre . Et ils on pas voulu . J'ai dit que c'était une honte et ils mont répondu que toutes facon les français etais leurs pigeons. En gros qu'ils prenent norre argent et on ce casse .
