There are so many things to do in Kennedy, but head farther afield and you'll find more sightseeing magic. Rent a set of wheels and you can meander around the surrounding area at your own speed. Add these fantastic drives to your list:

• Make tracks to Ambato for an excellent sightseeing experience. Roughly 80 miles from Kennedy, it has numerous inspiring sights like Mall of the Andes.
• Around 110 miles away, Esmeraldas is also a hit with travelers. Allow time to take in Malecón Las Palmas while you're in town. It's one of the reasons people love this vibrant city.
• Venture into the outdoors and inhale the fresh air at Montañita Beach. You'll find it roughly 200 miles from Kennedy.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Ecuador, then it's likely you'll need to get an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country in order to rent a car. It's also important to note that if you do need an IDP, it has no validity on its own. You'll need to show your current license your passport and other forms of documentation as well. Lastly, it's important that the credit card you used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some additional requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You must be at least 25 in most places to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to what kinds of cars you can rent.
