After you've ticked off the fabulous places in La Vista, there's plenty more to discover in the region. Grab the keys to a rental car, pack your bags in the trunk and get going. We've pulled together some road trips we know you'll love:

• Managua is roughly 55 miles from La Vista. Famous tourist attractions like Galerias Santo Domingo Shopping Center deserve to be high on your list while you're in town.
• Your next pit stop? It has to be Granada, which is around 35 miles away. Granada Cathedral is one local highlight you really shouldn't miss.
• Head to Santa Maria Beach to feel grounded in nature. Pack a picnic to enjoy or just recharge your batteries in the fresh air. From La Vista, it's approximately 130 miles away.

If you don't hold a driver's license issued in Nicaragua, then you'll likely need to acquire an International Driving Permit (IDP) in your home country to be allowed to rent a car. You should also note that if you do need an IDP, it won't be valid on its own. You'll have to show your current driver's license your passport and other forms of identification as well. Lastly, make sure the credit card used to book the rental matches the name on your license and passport. Some additional requirements for international car rentals are:

• Age restrictions: You must be at least 25 in most countries to rent a car. If you're younger than that, it might still be possible to rent a car but you'll have to pay a Young Driver's Surcharge. Additional restrictions may also apply to the types of vehicles you can rent.
