8.4/10 Very Good! (1,099 reviews)
Room 416 may be the worst room in the hotel. It's actually on the 5th floor which is only accessible by a flight of stairs! The view is an ugly rooftop with pipes and chemical storage containers through cobwebs in the window. The room was large but poorly laid out (mirror not near the power outlet for the hair dryer, no power outlets next to the bed to charge phones or plug in CPAP machines). There's a safe in the room. But, it isn't anchored to the wall!
There wasn't air conditioning, which isn't unusual in Ireland. But being close to the harbour, the seagulls are very noisy throughout the night, with the windows open.
We booked a Standard Double room and were given a room with a double and a twin bed. Removing the table and chairs which would have been more useful for a couple than the extra bed.
The general condition of the room and hotel is tired and worn out. The carpets are worn and the decor very dated. The room and hotel in general were clean and the housekeeping staff were friendly, leaving us extra towels and supplies outside our door because we had put out the Do Not Disturb sign.
The front desk and bar staff were very friendly.
The hotel is conveniently located close to Eyre Square.
