Large hotel well located in the city centre. Nice room, but some street noise on Friday and Saturday nights, better on Sunday and Monday nights. It is near the hub for the trams and I recommend downloading the TBM ticketing app. It makes travel to attractions such as La Cite du Vin by tram much easier. Front of house staff welcoming and helpful and housekeeping very good. They kept our room well serviced, even closing our curtains. We met the maids and it was obvious how keen they were to please and do anything for us to make our stay enjoyable.
What a contrast then, the hotel restaurant (the one on the ground floor). We ate there twice. Dreadful service: You get taken to your (reserved) table and left there with no menus or attention. You ask for things (in French) like water, desserts, the bill and they never come. We saw other tables sending food back. What service there is is slow, and for long periods serving staff just disappear completely. The restaurant really lets the rest of the hotel down.

The staff in all areas were very attentive. Our room was interesting with a large tub taking up much of the floor space but other than that fantastic. Everything was clean. We enjoyed the turndown service getting fresh towels and minibar restock. Robes and slippers were nice. Breakfast about average for hotels of this class in France. Although they did offer champagne we didn’t see anyone drinking it at breakfast

"Lovely place to stay. Hôtel old chateaux, so don’t expect new hotel. It blends old tradition with comfort. Dining wonderful and food superb. Great stop off and short drive to town."
