This place is quiet and clean, perfect to rest and recover from travelling and for a very affordable price. Dennis the owner was very helpful in finding a driver for a day trip that I did on my last day there. Believe the other reviews - this place is a nice one. The location is not in the busy centre of Colombo but you can walk to museums from here, no problem (or a short taxi trip is walking is not your thing). I didn't take up the offer of breakfast but they provide it is you like.

Nothing much to like other than the location. The place is badly maintained with hardly any staff. The front door is shut by 8.30 PM which was inconvenient. The reception is shockingly badly kept as are the exterior areas.Rooms maintenance is dismal. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Séjour excellent dans cette guesthouse parfaite.

Très bon séjour dans une guesthouse parfaite et au calme d’une ruelle en retrait de la route. Nous avions une grande chambre au rez de chaussée avec terrasse. Très bien équipée avec plateau de courtoisie. Belle salle de bain avec produits de toilette. Excellent petit déjeuner très copieux, avec service impeccable. Le wifi fonctionne très bien. Pas utilisée mais la piscine m’a semblée très propre, comme toute la maison. Directeur très accueillant et serviable ainsi que son équipe. Peu de restaurants dans le quartier, privilégier le tuktuk car pas tout proche du front de mer.

Comfortable start to out Sri Lankan adventure

It was only a short stay as we arrived late at night and left the next day at checkout. Sudharshan was very responsive in organising transport for us both before our stay and while we were there. The room was nice, clean and they provided slippers and robes. Location was good. Walking distance to Black Cat Cafe and Cinnamon Gardens. Good value. Would stay here again.

Wunderschön!!

Eine wunderschöne Oase etwas ausserhalb vom Stadtzentrum. Das Zimmer war sehr schön, inklusive eigenem Whirlpool. Das Essen war sehr lecker, es empfiehlt sich auch einmal in der Unterkunft zu essen. Das Personal war sehr bemüht und sehr freundlich!

En oas med flera bra restauranger nära

Mycket trevligt bemötande. Mysig innergård med liten svalkande pool att flyta i. Ett vackert blommande tempelträd skuggar poolen lätt. Kall öl och färska juicer är inga problem. Fina rena rum med te och kaffe finns på rummet. Vi har varit här två ggr sammanlagt 8 nätter. Liknande service och mysighet bägge gångerna.

Fantastic Ellen's place

Fantastic, the hotel manager was ready for us when we arrived at 2am. Room was fabulous. The manager was very helpful with information regardin places to see in Colombo. Only stayed 2 nights but would recommend. Pool is small but really cool after a hot day.

Character & charm coupled with efficiency

A lovely hotel in a great and central location. Ellen's Place has stacks of character - boutique in style but with the smooth operation of a much larger organisation: the people working here and friendly and professional and could not have done more to make our stay a pleasant one. The room was fantastic (large, clean and well-decorated) and the breakfast was great (fresh, plentiful, and promptly served). A great hotel - we will certainly return!

Comfortable, clean and friendly staff

The hotel was clean, staff were extremely friendly and our room was huge! The hotel doesn’t have much else going on apart from a comfortable spacious room to stay in. A good place to stay in after a long flight. A little expensive and you pay extra for breakfast which the price was also high compared to other places and for what it was. We also got a taxi recommended by the guy who ran the hotel which was 12000 rupees which we thought was 2000 to Mirissa a 1 and a half journey. Make sure you look for other taxi companies as they will be half the price! I stayed in a 5 star hotel afterwards which was offering that much for a private driver for the whole day!

Fantastic hotel away from the crowds

A bit off the beaten track but only 300 rupies to get into town. A very welcome pool to relax in. Staff could not be more helpfull. A brilliant restaurant 'August' just 5 minnutes walk.

隠れ家的 静寂な心休まるホテル

大通りから少し中に入った場所にあり、 車通りも少なく、 道一本入っただけの好立地にも関わらず、 静かで、落ち着いた雰囲気の素晴らしいホテルです。 スタッフはフレンドリーで、 入口をぬけて中に入ると、 こじんまりとしたリビングスペースと、その横にレストランが併設されており、 お客様と打ち合わせ後、 そのまま食事をすることができました。 中庭にはプールがありましたが、 今回は泳げませんでした。唯一の心残りかな。 部屋はソファーがあり、 へやの中でも打ち合わせが出来るスペースがあったことが良かったです。 次回は子供達と一緒にプールに入り、 のんびり過ごしたいです。
